Default Road trip....... suggestions?

Tomorrow I'm driving my '01 vert back home from Columbia SC to Round Rock TX. I'll be taking I-20 all the way to Dallas then 35 to Round Rock. Any places I "need" to stop for dinner or breakfast along the way?

It's going to be a long drive but one I'm looking forward to.

Not just picking it up. I have only had it since april but drove it to SC for work. My work schedule changed from 2 weeks in SC and 2 weeks in TX to 1 in SC and 3 in TX. So I'm driving it back so that I get to drive it more rather than less.

Take a side trip into New Orleans and have dinner at one of the restaurants in the French Quarter. Take I-10 into Texas.

Oh heck, pack a sack full of sandwiches and that way you won't have to get out of your Vette all the way (almost) home!! That way you'll have a loooong fun drive back to Texas. Just be careful.

Can't help you on suggestions of places to stop at, but be safe on the trip. Should be a fun time.

I don't have anything specific, but I look for breweries as rest stops. The brewsnews keeps a map of these types of places.

The places are not a chain place, and have to be very clean to make beer. PLus the water is always filtered and the food is at beer type prices, not bad to save a little money in case you find something on up the road.

Around here, I know of a couple of breweries and BBQ. A genius concept, but it ain't Texas when you bite in. But they have nice regular side dishes, not a bunch of wiped out crap that disappeared from other restaurants long ago.

Thanks for the well wishes and the info. Can't wait for 4 o'clock to get on the road and away from all this friggin' rain here in Columbia, SC.

Columbia SC (heading WEST) is not too far out of the way from the "Dragon" (US 129, NC and TN). It'll be a once in a lifetime.

I had thought about that "little" detour but I don't have the luxury of that much time.

There are some really good roads to explore in the northern mountains of Georgia too. See how far Helen Georgia is off your intended route.

Thanks, Helen is really beautiful. Stayed there a couple times with the family when we lived in SC from 2000-2006.
