Default Need new wheels

Who makes a quality wheel that has the same design as the stock C5 wheel with a chrome look. I think chrome and black go well together.

I like the simplicity of the original style wheel, and easy cleaning. Many new wheels look like they would be a bear to keep clean.

There's been a lot of people here have good luck with reproduction wheels. Sadly I have not. I put chrome repros on my old ws6 and they were substantially heavier than the previous stock wheels I had on it, so I sold them and put my stockers back on. My FRC came with repro and they're heavy as well and the chrome has started to flake off pretty bad. The chrome could be the previous owner's fault though. I'm going with TSW Nurburgrings here in the next few weeks. They seem to be a quality wheel that won't break the bank too bad and are still light weight. I believe they have a 5 spoke wheel too that fits the c5.

Thanks, I will do some checking. Never thought about the chrome wheels being heavier.

When I changed my stock wheels I knew they were heavier, but I was surprised at the loss of performance. It's not huge but it is noticeable. If your going to go aftermarket, spend a few more dollars for the TSW or Forgestars. They both make a quality wheel that close to the weight of stock wheels.

I am a newbie to wheels and weights, but could it be that the originals were forgings and the repos were cast?

Forged wheels would allow a stronger wheel with less mass (weight).

Just wondering - I have no idea if my OEM wheels (polished aluminum?)are forged, but I love the look and will keep them.

Are they clear coated for protection from the elements?

I have had the same problem with them and like you mine may have come from not being taken care of by the po.

When I bought my car, it came with some C5 Z06 chrome reproduction wheels made by Factory Reproductions. The wheels have been on the car since new and now, 10 years later, they still look like new. Yes they may be heavier than the stock wheels, but I've not really noticed any decrease in performance from them.

I am very happy with my TSW's.

Being old and not to flexible, I like the five spoke wheels for easier cleaning.

Thanks for all the good ideas. Now I just need to take some measurements, make a decision and get them coming.
