Default driver information center recyles

I test drove a 99 vette I was able to find the previous owner, he was very willing to discuss the car while he owned it for 3 yrs. all was positive except one thing.

He mentioned that the DIC (driver info center) at times no specific rhyme or reason would recycle meaning he would set it for say miles to empty. Once in a while it would just clear itself, he would just then reset it and it would be fine until the next time. It would not happen alot but once in awhile. Is this something I should be worried about if I purchase this car.

Also the drivers seat starting to rock back and forth a bit is this a difficult fix? also the form on the drivers seat needs replacement.

under the pluses the previous owner had a aftermarket airfilter installed gives better airflow and can be cleaned instead of replacing.

has runflats, milage 45K cost dealership wants 16,000

any thoughts?

Sounds like the battery was was starting to take a dive. The rocking seat is almost standard. I'm surprised it's not a factory option! That can be fixed. Won't comment on the price because you're going to hear all sorts of comments on here. Some good, some stupid. That's fantastic low miles for a 99. Good luck.

The rocking seat is an easy fix. Did mine in an hour or two. I opted to buy a kit that came with the shims and tool to make the job easier. It cost about $30. Many on the forum buy nylon washers at Home Depot/Lowes and sand them down to fit and get away with less than $2. The convenience of the kit was worth the money to me. A good how-to is here:

Battery is likely cause of "recycling" however is not a major problem anyway.
Low mileage for 99, but a bit over priced (IMNSHO)
I'd think more like $14500.
Rocking seat is no biggie either.

When I bought my '03 z almost a year ago the seat rocked and was a little annoying. However I think that the automatic entry system having to carry my lard as# back and forth may have re-adjusted the mechanism because I don't feel the rocking anymore.

Enjoy your new ride.
