Bought a 2003 C5 a couple weeks ago and the CD changer worked fine. Now, the changer reads the disks, but there is no volume. Radio works.
Is this a known issue? Yes, I did a search, but came up with nothing. I took the changer apart and cleaned all the connections, but still no workie.
Why don't you either have yours fixed ( have a professional audio shop relatively close by) but most shops can figure the what & why yours is not working or buy a stock replacement changer ? I'm sure you can find one. If they went into a Corvette I'm sure they went into most other GM products. I still have a cassette tape player in my pickup, and the Audio shop were able to remove it, fix it and reinstall it for $95.00.
Killian........Thanks for your reply. My "plan B" was to have a shop look at it. I was hoping there was an easy DYI fix, however.
Well the shop that's close to me have been doing automotive radio, security and high end audio system for that last 40 years, so they are pretty up on their game when it comes to radios, Wi-Fi or any kind of amp or audio systems. The one guy who worked on my cassette player is 71 years old, looks and move as if he's 35. But he had no trouble to my unit at all. One of his co workers said "He's forgotten more troubleshooting knowledge that most of the kids out here. So I'd let that job to an expert. A professional will know if it can be fixed or he or she can get you an identical system to reinstall. Good Luck !
Was the remote changer installed at the factory or by the dealer?
The service manual schematic shows that, for dealer-installed, the status/control data is on a separate connector (and presumably separate cable/harness) from the audio data. In that case it might be a cable/connector issue rather than the changer itself.

In my opinion it is over 10 years old and they don't last forever, What I did was buy an iTouch with 64gb and now have over 8000 songs at my finger tips, I would buy an iSimple from forum vendor Dennis at DoubleDMods and be done with it, The iPod will sound so much better than before, Last I checked the iSimple and harness was like 89 bucks and well worth it.
