Version 3.1 Shroud

The SLC V3 headlights are now in the process of being re-designed with the purpose of providing both a new look and correcting issues surrounding the main lens that some customer have experienced.

1. Lens: The previous lens was made from UV-treated PETG. Some customer have reported fogging of the lens particularly around the corners. This has been traced to the tendency of some cleaning products (particularly glass cleaners) causing light chemical hazing on the lens itself. Even a re-used microfiber towel may cause this.

The NEW lens will be made from Impact-Modified Acrylic. This material is inherently UV stable and carries with it all the optical, flexibility and impact-resistant qualities of PETG but with the added benefits of improved scratch-resistance and added chemical resistance. This material is used heavily in the automotive industry where polycarbonate would see too much abrasion.

2. The Shroud: The SLC V2 shroud has a small issue noticed when forming due to the design of the mold itself. The "pockets" for the light cause significant stress to the mold when a formed piece is removed and resulted in this last batch of part of the mold breaking off. The body of the shroud somewhat follows the lines of the C5 body, but with the projector cut outs looks less like a purpose-built headlights and more like an afterthought.

The re-design not only aims to fix this but also gives the shroud a facelift. The new design will feature a more con-cave body curve that mimics the styling of the C5 and not just the body lines. The new design also will make the use of Audi-style LED lights possible

For those curious, Both the new lens and shroud WILL BE COMPATIBLE with the V2 kits. A Shroud/Lens upgrade kit will be available to V2 owners.

I will post photos of the shroud's development for consensus or criticism and once the design is finalized I will be opening a pre-buy period with a SIGNIFICANT discount off the normal price.

Possible but IMO an unnessicary expense when the existing of impact-modified acrylic are considered. Also I do not believe Gorilla glass can be thermoformed easily.
