Default Front Inner tie rod boot?

Any information out there on how exactly to go about replacing these? They look pretty simple to swap out but wouldn't hurt to have a guide.

Why are you replacing? If torn then yes if you are leaking PS fluid then you need to change out the rack. The boots are only there for dust and debris protection they do not seal anything (think shocks on your suspension) same concept. To replace the boots simply remove wheels, then the tie rods.

Part #3 is the inner tie rod that has a seal, that's where it is leaking. You need to get your PS rebuilt or a new one. I don't believe there are new ones anymore they are all rebuilt now. If your vette is just used for the weekends and can afford not to drive it for a while I would recommend sending off to get rebuilt.

I seem to recall a shop called 'Turn One', or something like that, that's run by a couple of former GM factory guys....

There is a couple if you do a search on here but not that great into detail. I'm not gonna lie its a total B to do it. It will take you any where from 2-4 hrs to get it done. In a nutshell gonna need to lift the front end take off front tires; then take off outer tie rods; then disconnect the two hydraulic lines that connect to the PS rack located on the driver side they are kind of hard to get to might need a short wrench or crows foot to take them off, depending on how big your hands are and reach is this will be easier if you take off the alternator and PS reservoir first. Your gonna want to drain the system first before taking off the lines or it will make a mess. There are only two bolts at the bottom that hold the rack in; but before that you need to disconnect the steering shaft that connects to the rack its only one bolt but you will need a long extension and possibly a uni-joint to get to it; when you do it get a helper to hold the steering wheel straight it is important for two reasons alignment and you do not want the steering wheel to spin freely or else you will ruin the clock spring. Here is the hard part after all this the rack is now ready to come out trying to wrestle it out is the hard part the easiest way I did was to take out or loosen some of front bolts to the front brace member also took out the bracket that holds the ABS module. Taking out the bolts to the front brace allowed me to get a pry in there just enough to squeeze the rack out. After getting the rack back in remember to repeat procedure for steering shaft and getting it straight might have to go back and do it after getting an alignment in order to get the steering wheel perfectly straight.
