Default Looking for an exhaust!

I'm new to the corvette world and I am running a stock exhaust right now..its VERY quiet...even when I get on it..

what im looking for is something that isnt too loud at cruising speeds, but REALLY rumbles when I get on the gas...

what are some exhausts that I could look in to? all advice is also appreciated! I'm wanting a full exhaust from the headers back!

I like Corsa Pace Cars myself but do a search on C5 exhaust and you can read discussion until Christmas 2020.

You will hear everyone say Corsa.

Yes they are a good exhaust and offer the best of both worlds. Rumble when you want it to and quiet cruising.

But it comes with a price. If you have a wad of cash it would be worth considering. If you don't you can find a better alternative.

Something in the middle that has what you want is Magnaflow. Mid America also sell a Quad power and a quad cruiser.

The power's are very aggressive, the cruiser is not. You can listen to videos on their website of them.

You can also find a Z06 Titanium exhaust from a Z06 that many members are happy with.

It just depends on your pockets and what exactly you're looking for.

Corsa is our most popular line. You can't beat the no drone technology built into them

how much would a Corsa run me?

I was hoping to get a full exhaust with headers and everything for around $1,500

definitely dont want magnaflows though..I have seen too many fall apart and heard too many bad things about them..the welds are terrible on them

Sound is VERY subjective.
What I like, or anyone else likes..... might not be what YOU like.

I would attend a local car show and listen to various exhausts.

Be careful of exhausts that "DRONE" and or "RESONATE".
B&B bullets, Borla Stingers, Borla straight pipes...etc....etc....
Some like it, but it sure does get annoying after a while.
Some exhausts have good engineering in them and do not drone.

Corsa is a good exhaust that does not drone. (Good engineering in them).
Corsa is quite expensive though.

I went thru a bunch of different exhausts and finally found one that is the sound that I like.

I have GHL Bullets now, and they don't drone, or resonate.
They have a deep sound to them, nice deep idle sound, and roar at WOT.
I can listen to the radio, and cruise with the windows down, and chat with a passenger with no issues.
They are on sale a lot on the forum for $800 shipped to your door.
If you price out the more expensive Corsa's your going to find the GHL Bullets are WAY cheaper.

Just something for you to consider.

I'm thinking of changing from stock exhaust also. I have been checking out sounds of exhaust on corvette's at cruise nights was leaning towards corsa pace /sport. But recently heard Borla s system ,To me sounded like old hot rod muscle car sound and not to loud. I heard that Borla redesigned exhaust in 2011 that took way drone noise. After hearing Borla I most likely going in that direction.

And it wasn't the welds on the magnaflows that was the problem. It was the stainless around the weld that gave way.

But I've only heard of that happening one time and that was on a C4 a friend has. It was because they welded the mount on top of the muffler and not where the mount actually was on the C4 designed mufflers.

I had Magnaflows on my C4 and the setup was totally different and mine were not stainless steel.

thanks for the info! $800 sounds cheap! I am definitely looking for something that doesnt DRONE, because I will be making trips in the vette back and forth from atlanta ga to savannah ga..my mom just had a stroke, so im trying to help out with that as much as possible..hes doing MUCH better though!

if I could get a full exhaust for $800 that sounds decent and isnt too loud, I would definitely go for something like that!

12 to 1700 bucks, depending on which one you get.

Those GHL Bullets are popular here but they are more aggressive than what you may be looking for.

Oh yeah

There was a guy here was trying to sell a set of corsa for like 750 bucks a couple weeks ago and couldn't get any takers for whatever reason.

Do a search in the for sale section, just put in corsa, and see if they are still available.

Sometimes you can find some for sale here pretty reasonable if you're patient

a good intermediate step could be a set of z06 titanium exhaust pipes (catback).. theyre light and sound much better than the stock exhaust... you can always find someone in the for sale section unloading them... expect ~400...

After months of reserarch I came up with XS Power. 750.00 delivered to my front door. Sounds great at Idle, opens up at WOT and ZERO drone. 150.00 to have installed at the local muffler shop

Huron Speed. Great vendor...
