Default Brake Pads

On June 15 I put Friction Master Ceramic pads on all four corners.

CMX 731 front, CMX 732 rear.

What I know to date is that the new pads make less dust in a month than the old pads made in two days. Peddle feel is good.

Will post again when I get to the track.

I put the same pads on about a year ago. (a great price from a Rock Auto closeout)

I agree with almost no dust and a good pedal feel too. The stopping power seems better than the stock pads also, but I have not taken mine to a track day yet.

Let us know how you like them on the track.

Will be interesting to see how they do at the track. And less dusting on the wheels is a really good deal.

Hello. I've had my ceramic break pads for a couple weeks now and while the dust is minimal, which is very nice, I'm not please to learn about the end result it could have on my expensive slotted and drilled rotors. Shame on me, as I did not thoroughly research my choice and in some ways, was sold by the parts department. I also bought into the less brake dust theory to protect my new wheels. Since then I've received an education on ceramic pads, it was explained to me thoroughly by a knowledgeable gentlemen on this forum. Fyi the skinny is that ceramic is hard. Think of a kitchen/bathroom ceramic tile for a moment; Pressure being applied by the caliper to the rotor by a ceramic pad has an increase of approx. 20' and hypostatically what gets me is that it can ultimately damage, darkens & warps the rotor. In a nutshell you really do want the brake dust, even though its a hassle, soft semi metallic brake pads shine and care for your expensive rotors. So even though you think you don't want the brake dust You really do as its a softer pad material. Previously I felt the same way about the dust. Soon I will ditch my ceramics brake pads, I will go to OEM semi metallic brake pads.

Then again, if you're happy with them, that's all that really matters. Good luck with them .

That may be true with whatever brand you are using but, not true with the Carbotech 1521 pad.

The Carbotech™ 1521™ is our high performance street compound. The 1521™ compound is known for its release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. 1521™ is also a very low dusting and low noise compound with an excellent initial bite. This compound's excellent linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Carbotech™ 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 800°F (426°C+). 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle or fleet vehicle. Carbotech™ 1521™ is NOT recommended for ANY track use.

Equip the vehicle you love with track-savvy, rotor-friendly brakes.

When you want more performance from your street car, you need to consider Carbotech performance brakes. Our unique Ceramic and Metallic formulation provides positive, sure-footed stopping power.

And since Carbotech brake pads don't use conventional carbon and iron construction, there's less wear and tear on the rotors-which can save you big bucks down the road. Our line of performance brake pads are so durable, Carbotech has been selected as the Official Brake of the United States Endurance Racing Association.

Still learning stuff, didn't know anything about carbontech? Thank you.

I don't track my car. I was sold AC Delcos for $159.

Anybody interested a like new set ACDelcos? When they come off your welcome to them with 30's days use less then 200 miles wear on them. Good deal at 50% of what I paid.

How much are your Carbontech on an 01 Sir? Thank you.
