I've had my 99 C5 for a little over a year, and I had her out today in the rain for the first time. The wife and I sold one of our 3 cars yesterday, and I had to take my RX300 in today for some ABS work. Therefore, we had to carpool in our only remaining vehicle -- the Vette.
Yep, it rained all morning. To my surprise, the Vette did not melt or in anyway become damaged by the rain, although it is a bit dirty.
I hate to ask, but who else refuses to drive in the rain??
love all the ones that say it never see's the rain, snow etc. just check the winter time when they sit under the snow for the winter, rain, hail etc.
cleaning, yah depending on color pain but takes less than an hour to wash, wheels and vacuum it out. full detail 3, crazy detail for car shows no limit)
Reminds me of the first time my Corvette got rained on. I decided to take it on a road trip to a city some distance away. Well it was not even half way to said city when I got hit be what had to be one of the biggest rain storms I ever experienced. No choice but keep going with huge trucks passing me and the wipers on full speed I could hardly see the highway. At one point I felt like a u boat commander and was hydroplaning all over the place. No where to stop safely I kept going. How I made it thru that storm without drowning (or the car die) I truly don't know but that was my baptism with rain and I still shake just thinking of it. True the Corvette did not melt but the owner has been traumatised. My Corvette is kept out of the rain ever since....if I can help it! Greetings, Rob

I've driven mine is rain, sleet, snow, you name it, no problem. The only issue is cleaning it up, so I avoid it whenever possible.
We are in the same boat. I've driven mine in all elements but i avoid it at all costs because of clean up. I clean wheel wells, undercarriage, etc. Becomes a pain in the butt when it always rains lol
I'm not a ballah so I have to clean my own car and I hate driving it dirty. As much time as it takes to get these things into pristine looks there's NFW under normal circumstances that mine's going to see rain.
Drive in severe rain which may include hail and high winds...heck no. That's what our '03 Envoy is for. The 'Vette stays in the garage those days.
I personally hand wash all three of my household's cars and it doesn't take long for each. That's what my weekends are for and it's good car therapy for me.
This reminds me of a day that I went to pick up breakfast, it was a beautiful day and my car was spotless like always, half way back one little bitty freaking thunderstorm caused me a good 2 days of hard work, I was pissed, but all you can do is bust out the supplies and get busy, I have a f-150 for my daily driver, I don't care if it gets dirty, but I hate having to remove wheels and such to clean the car back to how I like to keep it, it is what it is, they don't melt, but it's a pain in the azz.
I avoid driving in the rain just because of the clean up. Last month I headed out on a road trip, tried to beat the rain. I didn't get rained on but wound up with the rain right ahead of me and drove 100 miles in heavy road spray off 18 wheelers. It was nasty but I found yellow doesn't show dirt nearly as bad as some other colors!
