I'm looking at getting a used B&B Route 66 cat back this week for my 02 Z06. I keep hearing that its not much louder then stock at all. My question is, I have Kooks long tubes and the Kooks catted X pipe. Is that gonna make a big enough difference in the sound to make it louder? My buddy has the B&B bulletins on his and its just to loud to talk in his car normally. I don't need it to be crazy loud but I want to know that I'm not gonna be wasting $500 for not anymore sound. Any help would be nice. Also, I have been searching sound clips on YouTube but I haven't found any with the headers and x pipe with the exhaust so any help with a possible link would be awesom! Thanks

I had the Route 66 on my '00 but did not have headers on the car, just an X-pipe and the catbacks. It had a better sound than stock, but not really by all that much. I really can't say how it would sound with headers added. If you want something that sounds much better than stock though, go with something like a Corsa system.
I can't answer your question just yet but am curious to the replies you receive. You see I also invested in a slightly used (1500miles) Rt 66 mufflers from a local CF friend ($475) a week ago and have just recently purchased a Xpipe another CF enthusiast ($225) that should arrive this week. I will be installing both in a few days and will be happy to give you my opinion as soon as I experience them. Personally I'm not interested in a loud exhaust, not yet anyways. What I'm after is cosmetic with just a bit louder then stock. I'm hoping I'm not disappointed with it being to loud. IMO you can listen to all those clips all night long but until it's on your car I can't really tell. Be happy to fill you in soon.
Good luck with it guy.
if you're looking for B&Bs i'd say go for the PRT setup, lot deeper sound than stock, sounds good at idle, not loud while cruising, but when you step on it it sounds mean, the exhaust like bypasses the mufflers under hard acceleration. just my 2 cents
In general, an x-pipe tends to quiet down and smooth out an exhaust rumble. Though not as good as the x, a true h-pipe will give added rumble, and not the crappy facsimile of the stock C5 exhaust. I have a Magnaflow on my car which is fairly quiet by itself. Once I added the LG header system it really changed the sound and personality of my exhaust, especially when you're at WOT.
I had BB Bullets and they droned like crazy on my '02Z, they were entertaining for a while just got tired of the noise. Replaced them with the BB R66's nice mellow tone slightly louder than stock no drone at all, I would imagine with headers and X pipe that would produce a louder deeper sound.
