And fellow CF friends, I am taking a trip to the Tail of The Dragon, leaving August 19th with about 5 other Vettes (forum members)...
I do not have a GoPro yet and am trying to keep costs down as much as I can for this trip... With that being said I was trying to see if anyone wanted to share the wealth and let me borrow their GoPro to make a nice video of the trip and document this awesome adventure!! The more the merrier. This is on my bucket list and the opportunity came about to join some other Forum members on the trip and I could not pass it up!!
If anyone is interested in joining/meeting us at the Tail here is the thread that was started by Alan in the Northeast Section. If you guys want more info like dates and where we will be just let me know and I'd be happy to pass it along!
Absolutely James that would be excellent! I'm gonna use it for the trip and then I'll send 'er back once I return home and pull the footage! I'm gonna try and get a few and get some different angles of the trip. Take a TON of photos and make a sweet movie!

Send me an Private message. I live about 1/2 hour away from the dragon and if I can get away I'll join y'all. ( I have a go Pro and have been wanting to use it on one of those trips) That's about a week before my annual Carlyle trip.
Any recommendations as to the best place to mount a GoPro on a C5 vert? Looking for the best spot that shows the cockpit and the front of the car. Do they mount to the tonneau cover behind the seats?

I'll send you a message when we get to Virginia before we head closer to you and hit the roads! We can meet up and you can join the caravan.

The suction cup mount I'm sure would mount above the waterfall and might show all you are looking for. But other Vert users chime in on the best spots!

To show the cockpit and the front of the car on a vert, I've found the best spot is on top of the hatch with the suctioncup mount. I've mounted it on the rear lip (just behind the C5) logo and found it to be too shaky but the view is great. Also, make sure your windshield is really clean inside and out with no streaks. The color will be a little muted through the windshield.
If you have 2 GoPro's on the car, consider mounting the second so that you're not filming through the window. Good places for the second one is on the door (below the mirror) looking forward or backwards. Top of the windshield is good too - great road and surrounding views with your hood at the bottom.
I'm considering fixing one of the flat mounts in the fog light area for a fantastic front view down low.
Make sure you play with a few of the settings to understand what they will look like before heading out on your 'bucket trip'! The last thing you want is to film everything on the wrong settings!

Excellent advice! I plan on making a few test runs before the trip to get the settings right and to find my favorite mounting positions.
