Default Question about bolt pattern C5

Hello!

Now I'm buying 1999 C5 hardtop with manual transmission (yippee!!!)
I'm from Russia and here nobody knows anything about this great car. Official dealer of Chevrolet told me that can help with Lacetti, Aveo and other half-korean junk only.

I don't like original rims and want to change them. But don't know it's bolt patttern.

Somebody told me on forums it is 120.65. But once i saw that 120.65 is for c6 and camaro only and true bolt pattern is 120.

Help me please to make a choice and sorry for my English.

Thanks to forum member 8VETTE7, here is a listing of C5 and C6 wheel info:

Here is all the C5 and C6 wheel info:

Backspace/offset dimensions are as follows:

C5 (coupe/convertible):
Front 17x8.5", 58mm offset = 7.03" backspace
Rear 18x9.5" 65mm offset = 7.81" backspace

C5 Z06:
Front 17x9.5", 54mm offset = 7.38" backspace
Rear 18x10.5", 58mm offset = 8.03" backspace

C6 (coupe/convertible):
Front 18x8.5", 56mm offset = 7.45" backspace
Rear 19x10", 79mm offset = 8.61" backspace

C6 Z06:
Front 18x9.5", 50mm offset = 7.22" backspace
Rear 19x12", 59mm offset = 8.82" backspace

C5 and C6 wheel circle:

5 on 4.75" (120.65mm)

The overall diameter of the rear tires needs to be at least 1/2" larger than the fronts to avoid active handling/traction control issues.

Factory tire diameter delta rear to front is a little over 1". The 1/2" is the minimum delta before you start having active handling/traction control issues. Similarly over 1 1/2" may be too much delta. There is a range where things are safe and outside that range active handling/traction control may be on all the time or never come on when it’s needed.

I find it awesome that you are a Vette owner from Russia. Is yours the only one there or are there many on the road. Please share some details on your car and the area that you live?

Post up some pics of your car? How long do you get to drive it before the snow and crappy weather starts?

Like Vettman Jack said, Corvettes have a 5 X 120.65mm bolt pattern.

120.65mm is NOT the same as 120mm bolt pattern. 120.65mm is 5 X 4.75 inches converted into millimeters. you can put 120mm wheels on a 120.65mm car, and they will appear to fit, but they are a little too small and put a lot of stress on the wheel.

You can read up on several websites, some people claim that you can interchange the sizes with little issues. Other websites say that the wheels will eventually crack. I would tend to believe that they will crack, especially if you drive a corvette the way it was designed to be driven.

Looks like you got the info you needed but just wanted to say hello and welcome from this side of the pond!

I think we'd all be interested in the questions that Blitz asked.

You may even want to consider putting a map marker in your location on the C5 map. We have no one yet from that area. Just please include your CF userid in the marker name if you choose to mark.

Welcome to the forum!!! My kludge computer can't type Cyrillic letters or else I would say "Drazvicha. Kak Vy pusiviatchya?" Me? Oh, "Yannyi punyimayu."

Like all the others I'm looking forward to hearing all about Corvettes in Russia.

Best regards,

Gunny John

FYI, all Chevy passenger car 5-bolt patterns have always been 5x4.75" or 120.65 mm, so if you find a Chevy fitment wheel you like they all interchange, providing they are a suitable width and diameter. You can use the same diameter wheels as long as the rear tires are a slightly bigger diameter. What's it like driving an exotic car like a Corvette in Russia. I'm sure you don't see another coming the other way everyday.

Apologize for my long pause.

When I wrote this post I only negotiated with the seller. In Russia there is a superstition. If you tell everyone around something that you planning, it will not come. But today i baught it! Dream of my childhood come true. Need for speed etc. And now I can tell about it to the world.

Thank you guys for answers essentially.

I called a few wheel-stores. Custom order only from USA (very expensive shipping cost). Junkyards are empty too. But there are a lot of cool rims in Russia for Japanese and German cars. Maybe I just order adapters.

I already updated my profile. Aded two photos and defined my location.
Soon I'll wash and polish my Vette and then there will be quality pictures.

Alas, but in Russia very few Corvettes.
We got lots of Porsches in the streets. Jaguars, Mercedeces AMG and BMW M, Audi S and RS, Lexus IS-F. I never had a porsche but I know several Porsche junkyards. Also lots of right-side steering wheel japanese cars. Drifters and streetracers prefer them. High reliability. Cheap. Cheap parts. Many junkyards.

Now about interesting American cars. Lots of Pick-ups like F150, Ram etc. cause of cheap customs clearance (considered trucks and busyness vehicles) Many Mustangs, for the most part the third generation. SUV like Exlorer or Grand Cherokke cause in Russia very few asfalt. Few Camaros like Bumblebee in Transformers movie.

Corvette is rare. Ferrari or Lamborghini more commonly then Corvette.
Damned government increased customs and tax rates so that the price of the new Vette you can buy, one-bedroom flat on the corner of Moscow.
Sometimes you can see a Corvette. Heart beats faster at this time =)
Here is a link to most-popular car sale site in Russia

http://cars.auto.ru/cars/used/chevrolet/corvette/?currency_key=RUR&price_usd[1]=&price_usd[2]=&year[1]=0&year[2]=0&client_id=0&body_key=&region_id=0&sti me=0&available_key=1

All over Russia only nine C5 for sale!!!
Only three of them with manual transmition (My dream was about MT only). Two in moscow and one in St Petersburg (z06. 25% more expensive)
The third line from the top I bought it today, but advertisement not removed yet.
We don't have a russia corvette forum.
All parts only custom order.

But... it is greatest car in the world!!! And I'm ready for this small inconveniencies.

I cannot answer you about winter Corvette driving, i Didn't try it. But don't rule that out in future.

Yes! And you just read all of it.

I took Russian in college from a wonderful Latvian Professor, Dr. Leonard Latovski. But that was 45 years ago and with having no opportunity to use it...I lost it.

I, too, have a '99 6 speed. Absolutely wonderful car. Will you turn off the Traction Control and "burn donuts" in Kremlin Square?

Please post often and keep us informed about you and your cool American car in Holy Mother Russia.

All the Best to you,

Gunny John

PS. Your English is outstanding...better than mine!

Thanks. Now I'm trying to find any information about ABS faults.

Thats impossible. Kremlin Square (also known as Krasnaya sq and Red Sq) is walking zone only. All pictures with vehicles at this place are approved with administration.

But when I was 20 y.o. Me and my girlfriend on a motorbike
were at the Krasnaya square. Police is everywhere. Barriers on entrance. You couldn't go there by car. But motorcycle is small and I got there using footpaths . After a few minutes I have been captured by police. First they wanted to take me to the police station. But tooke a pity and released. They took a promise from me yhat I'll never go to Red Square on a motorbike again =)

PS. Your English is outstanding...better than mine!
Thank you but I am using dictionary too and understand that know grammar badly. At school and university I knew it better but five years is enough to forget (

I looked at the Russian site you posted and noticed that almost all the cars they advertised as Z06s were not. They had either LS2s or LS3s in them, Thats not the Z06 I know, just a few with LS7s. Be careful that what your buying is really whats advertised.

This is a mistake of auto.ru site I think. If you want to sell your C6 you can chose only one modification (z06). At any case VIN number tells all about car.

Thanks for the warning.
