Default Was I just lied to?

I hope so!

Just had a coworker compliment me on how good my 'vette sounded and then, of course, proceeded to tell me about his wife's 5.0 Mustang with LT headers, cat back, and CAI that was tuned to get 500 rwhp!

I asked him if it was blown but he said "No, it's all done with the variable cam timing". Does Ford have a 5 liter capable of that?

Geez, all that on mine was just good for about 40 horses!

Not even 500bhp, from what I've seen they only gain 25-30whp with I/H/E+tune.

Not to say it ain't so, but I'd have to take it with a grain of salt. I will say that I do like the way Mustangs sound.

Seems unlikely . . .why not tell him your Corvette can make 600 hp . . and see if he knows the difference?

from what I've seen those bolton 5.0's are around 400ish to the wheels which isn't too shabby, it only took them 30 years lol

The new 5.0s supposedly do put out a good bit. Not necessarily to the ground tho. I will say that the dealers do say that with those mods she said that they can tune it to make 500. Ford has a lil performance catalog.

I only know bc I used to work for a ford dealer. Not from personal experience with a stang. They r a fun test drive but nothing for a c5 to be afraid of

I ran a stock 2011 GT a couple of years back at the drag strip and he ran a 12.88@113... probably capable of pulling a stock C5 non Z.

Oldie but goodie with that video, it's gotta be staged though... If that guy really exists, he needs to start a video journal of his life.

Why is it that Mustang owners always seem to have to try to prove something to vette owners?

I believe the 5.0 Mustang (2013) cranks out 420 bhp in stock form. Add all the stuff you mention and it would give it some more power, but no where near 500 rwhp. I'd say they are way optomistic on their HP numbers.

They are usually in the 360' ish range bone stock to the rear wheels. BTW, besides my vette & camaro I also own 2 mustangs, so I speak from experience. No way a tune, LT's & a CAI are going to give you that power.....

Not so, they are lighter than Camaro, or the even heavier Challanger!
