I'm looking to replace the GM factory radio in my '02 Z06 with a touch screen head unit. I'm assuming since the size of the factory radio is smaller that I would need to purchase one that extends out and flips either up or down. Has anyone replaced their radio with this type of radio or found one that is a stationary touch screen? If so could you recommend a brand? Any issues installing? Pictures would be great!!
There are some who have this type of radio, some like them others do not. Boss, power acoustiks and soundstream all make one as does Pioneer I think, I know they used to.
I don't know the quality of them but soundstream does make some good speakers so I've heard.
I have thought about it at different times but always decided against it. Personally I would get a single din HU, or wait until I wanted to spend the money on a new bezel from DD and then get a double din if that's I wanted. More expensive but if you want a double din screen it would be worth the wait.

I had the King of Audio build me a new radio bezel for my double din nav unit, Contact Dennis at DoubleDMods a forum vendor, Looks much better that one that flips up.

That looks awesome! How much would it run to make the radio bezel like that, If you don't mind me asking, or PM me if you want

Coincidentally, I had the Grand Pooba of Audio, Dennis of Double D Mods, build me a double din bezel and head unit configuration with upgraded speakers and a rear camera function. It turned my 14 year old C5 cabin into a present day audio visual masterpiece of sexual

So you sit in your car and crank one off looking at your touch screen stereo ?
So once the bezel has been modified there is enough room in the dash to install the double din touch screen without having to remove additional components?
wow guys these are some good looking mods! Ill get in touch with him...I'm looking at that kenwood with the rear view camera and gps...good stuff
One of the best things about the Kenwood unit is the fact that it has a volume ****... I know it seen insignificant. but believe me, that **** is worth its weight in gold.. units without the **** have these very small push buttons where the push button are all the same, and you have to take your eyes off the road or feel around and maybe changed stations instead of increasing or decreasing the volume. but, that big **** is not something that you can easily miss. You would be surprises how many times you might want to raise or lower the volume. Anyway, the small clone type buttons look clean but are less functional than the ****. Dennis told me that the Kenwood unit and that volume **** would be in my best interest, he also told me that he guaranteed I would be happy with the **** or he would take it back. He also said he was 100 % sure I would like it, even though I wasn't sure.. I just went on his advice and knowledge. He was right.
Yep, the first one we put in had a bunch of little buttons for the controls. What a pain! The head unit lasted about a week before ripping it out. Get one with ***** or BIG pushbuttons.
