Lets talk transmission swaps
So I finally tore down my 04z to see what broke in the drivetrain. What I found when I separated the diff from the tranny is what I believe to be the hardened output shaft twisted and sheared in half at the splines going into the diff. When that happened it looks like the broken splined section rocketed toward the rear of the diff and broke the ears of the pinion mount along with internal case damage and gear damage. Fun times.
So I'm trying to see what options I have. I like the idea of getting a complete dropout TR6060 from an 08-up c6z. Would the trans/diff setup from a 06/07 c6z be worth while and would I have the swap cradles and everything else like I would with the TR6060? I'm trying to stay away from buying new extremely built c5z trans/diff because prices for that stuff can surpass the cost of a TR6060 swap. Unless I can find good used c5z aftermarket trans/diff parts cheaper. I think putting stock stuff back in would be asking for trouble and more parts breakage. Especially with 532rwhp, 523rwtq on tap.
