I use one, I like the look better, and to be honest I've had no issues with performance (radio) there are tons of styles to choose from.

Works awesome. No loss of performance, but I mainly have an iPod plugged in.

I got the same one a couple of weeks ago and I haven't noticed any difference in signal strength and it looks WAY better on the car.

I use the one that actually looks like the stock antenna but only 10 inches tall.

I guess I'm lucky, my '99 doesn't have an antenna!

Silly question, but I don't know if all the C5s came with the electric antenna or not. If so, I am assuming this replaces that whole setup? Mine still works fine, but I don't necessarily like the looks of it when it is up.

Verts have a power antenna, Coupes have antennas embedded in the windshield, Z06s have the fixed mast antennas,

So...can you use a stubby to replace the power antenna? I like the looks of the stubby much more.

Can't think of any reason why you couldn't. Just get the Z06 fixed assembly and replace your power unit. You may be able to find someone to trade.

I have known people who did replace their power ant with a fixed antenna.
I replaced one on a Honda Accord one time myself.

I added a switch to my power antenna. It's only up when I flip the switch, which I rarely do. Reception is great when it's down unless I'm really out in the boonies.

Those work on a Z06 or FRC, but if you want one on a convertible, you'll have to replace the whole antenna ***'y. The ones pictured screw onto a stud that is not present on a convertible.

The first mod I did to my Vert when I bought it was replace the Antenna. The stock power one is a real eyesore.
The stubbies are a good option, if you search there are plenty of threads detailing how to replace the power antenna with a stubby.
The power antenna also has decent reception when its down. You can simply unplug it, and it should be acceptable unless you're out away from the city.
I replaced mine with a hidden amplified antenna that's mounted inside the rear quarter panel. The reception is on par with stock.

If you find someone that wants the power antenae, they'll need to reprogram their BCM if they install it on a FRC/Z06.
