I did not do the install myself when I changed my stock seat covers (I went with Vette Essentials ones), but if you look on the Vette Essentials web site, there are detailed instructions on how to do the swap. If after you look at the instructions you do not feel comfortable doing the work, I would highly recommend letting a pro do it. Supposedly it is not hard to do but I didn't want to take the chance in screwing up an expensive set of seat covers. Good luck in whatever you decide.
Have any of you ever checked out a company called Katzkin? Had my wife's LS400 leather redone with a set of covers from them that we were very pleased with. I know they offer leather for C5's.

I'll try to check 'em out and get back to the thread. Thanks for the tip.
Regards to all, and, once again, Pat, thanks for starting the post.
They appear to have a very comprehensive website. It allowed me to configure options to my car. Looks nice, but I'll keep looking for more customer results.
Bubbletop, did you install your wife's, or have someone do it?
The cost for a pair is WAY too much. I Have a C5 with only wear on the driver’s side.
I’ve seen high quality leather (can’t remember where) covers sell the left or right separately. I don’t remember $. That is the only way I would buy anything. The stock ones on mine are only worn on the drivers’ side. The passenger cover is like new. I would never replace one that is like new, it would be stupid in my case.
Man your car looks great. Was the installation hard? How long did it take to complete the seats?
No it wasn't hard, I would say 2-3 hours for each seat. I took my time and threw back some beers while doing it! I would not pay a shop to do it, it's rather simple!
WELL PART OF MY ORIGINAL QUESTION HAS BEEN ANSWERED> I plan on doing the re-cover myself. Thanks to all my newly found "beer drinking buddies" vote of confidence.
Secondly, still trying to decide which company to purchase the leather from.
I found a few good Youtube videos by searching recovering C5 sport seats. If you do not have sport seats get the foam and sport seat covers and they will fit. If you want heaters it's a good time to add them. I used the Rostra WET kits. Instead of cutting them for the velcro I sewed HD velcro to both side of the heaters where they have velcro in the seats. I also put the washers in the tracks to stop the rocking while I was at it. The MA covers are better quality than OEM but look the same. The leather is much nicer.
Did mine earlier this summer. I went with DJ Motorsports - very satisfied with the quality of the leather and the seats. As noted in my write-ups below, there were some minor glitches and I never did get any response. I eventually did use the padded console cover and I do like it. I ended up ordering visor covers from Redline - very nice but an additional expense.
Just went on DJ Motorsports website and they do have some of the best prices I've seen. I won't swear to it, but I believe Mid America makes their own covers from 100% leather, my guess is DJ Motorsports is buying from China, unless that doesn't bother you.
IF they are form China, I would question the 100% leather before I bought any from them.
As far as how hard of a job is it? I replaced some on my C4 and it took about 3 hours per seat, that was complete from start to seats back in the car.
They are full leather. The only vinyl in the entire order was on the connectors on the back side of the seat inserts and along the very bottom of the padded console cover. You might want to try calling or emailing DJ to confirm and tell him that you like his product but have some concerns about follow-up if you have any problems or questions. See if that prods him to be a bit more responsive. The seats are really well-made and feel and look great.
The first one took me a bit longer because I had to go get a replacement zipper slider, so maybe a total of 3 hours actually working on it. The second was about half that time.
Good luck with your project!
