Default '99 Clutch Question

First off, Hello! I'm a New Corvette Owner after many years of waiting, and am very pleased to join the Corvette family!

Long story short, I bought a '99 FRC 6 speed, bone stock except for exhaust, with 60,000 miles. I have noticed that the car's clutch has a "loose" spot at the top. It has enough pressure to spring fully back, but it has very little resistance until about 1/2 way down...sometimes. Other times, there is only about 1" of play. Sometimes the clutch engages very low, right off the floor, other times the clutch engages much higher, like I am used to from other manual transmission cars I have driven.

Other than this, the car drives fantastic. and the clutch doesn't really bother me, however it is a bit odd. I just wanted to get the opinions of those more experienced than I am.

Is this something I should worry about and have repaired? What could be causing this?

I appreciate you taking the time to answer this newbie's questions!

Sounds like you need to bleed all the old fluid, replaced with new. Dirty clutch fluid causes what you describe

I've actually done just that. The fluid was disgusting. I used what I call the turkey baster method, pulled the old fluid, replaced, pumped the clutch, rinse and repeat. I did that maybe 10 times the first day, and I did the same a few days later, maybe 5 times. It still acts up. I'll try again tomorrow. I'm sure the fluid has had more time to circulate the old fluid up from the slave cylinder.

Thanks for the reply!
