Anyone have issues or can help with my AC belt jumping halfway off the crank? I have replaced both the idler pulley and tensioner and had new belts put on by GM when one of the mechanics were doing some work for me. It just started recently after hard acceleration a few nights ago. I got home today and looked to find the new belt missing a spline. I bought a new belt tonight and installed it, took it around the neighborhood and it still jumped off.
any squeaking sounds on top of that belt being misaligned? i had all kinds of problems with my ac belt and pulley alignment (lots of squeaking too), ended up the harmonic damper bolt had come loose allowing it to move outward toward the steering rack. i had it replaced with a new one (balancer, bolt and front main seal), no problems since. something to check for anyway.
I dont see a lot of wobble with the crank pulley, I removed the new AC belt and started the engine only to hear the same loud chirp. The common component with the AC belt and serpentine is the crank pulley. I was really hoping that wasn't the problem. My mechanic friend is gonna charge $350 for labor, I am wondering now which brand pulley I should get.....would the OEM pulley be just as good?

The slp has a bigger edge on the flange. In any event go with an under drive pulley for the minimal power gain. At $350. labor I'd consider finding a new friend.
I don't know if this is applicable to your situation or not... But there are also different tensioners available. A Katech version is available through forum vendors, and/or I found an LS-2 tensioner on the web for $50. If you're also having trouble with the other belt, it might be worth looking into these.

This was my problem too....
I did a Katech tensioner, new GM a/c tensioner, new idlers, new Gates Racing Blue belts, and an ATI balancer with an ARP bolt. My chirp is now gone. Expensive? Yeah, but I'm happy, and fairly confident that I'll never have to do it again.
