Default Drag radial size ideas

I got 18x8.5 in front and 19x10 in the rear.

I DON'T want to use my current rear wheels and was thinking of maybe a 17 or 18 might work. What size wheel and radial do you recommend?

I'd probably go with an 18" drag radial on the rear if it's primarily for street use. I ran 18" BF Goodrich's on mine years ago and my car hooked up pretty well on the street. Tire technology has come a lot further since then and you have several more choices now. If you're just looking for track use, I'd be tempted to go with a 17", which would give you a little more sidewall. I'm sure someone with DR's will chime in.

Look at the 17 on the rears. More tire in a 17 but get the tallest one you can find.. Robert

Just wondering why you don't want to run 19's in a drag radial?
For my new setup i'm thinking 325/30/19 Hoosier R6 or A6....

Just found them on Tire Rack. I'm sure the price will scare some folks away.

A 17X9.5" wheel will fit most drag radials well. That's the stock size for front Z06 wheels, so its a pretty easy and cheap size to find.

I'm personally about to put on some Mickey Thompson 295/45/17's. They're a ~27" tire, so a little bit more sidewall that the stock ~26" tires, but it doesn't require any tubing or trimming or anything like most 28" tires do.

I think a 295/45/17 is pretty much the biggest drag tire you can fit on a C5 without doing any modifications to the car.

I couldn't find a DR to fit that rim.

Maybe I should get 18x8.5?

Yeah they're not the cheapest tire out there. My buddy is running them in his c6 z06, performance wise they do tame the monster.

You couldn't find DR to fit 17" rim? There's plenty. I got my Nitto 555r's 135.00 each.

I couldn't easily find a true drag radial for a 17"X9.5" rim, but I think one probably does exist.

I'm going to run these:

Those or Nittos are your best best, and you can run them on the street too.

275/40/17 will work fine on the 17x9.5.
