Default Car Cover

Recently bought a 01 Vet, and I want to purchase a cover for it. Has anyone purchased a stormproof microfiber cover. If so, will it scratch the paint when the wind blows? This car is kept outside.

They're good covers, but I would not use any cover in the wind. They'll do some damage for sure.

I'm using a California Car cover, But it is not a micro fiber, it is a non woven composite , of several layers, bonded in a kind of a waffle , dimpled look. It is the common material for car covers, and is called a few different names from different companies. It is cut very well for a tight fit, It would take a good blow to move it. The shape of the car helps secure the cover, a lot of the cover is tucked underneath.

I can't contradict the caution about paint damage, But with my paint and standards of maintenance , I have seen no damage from any of my car covers over many years. A softer paint or more demanding needs might tell another story. I also brush off the road dust before I place the cover.

My used car came with a non woven white Tyvek type cover designed for compactness, in that it is designed to roll into a small container. It's thin and white, but is only a loose fit, as is common with less elaborate construction.

I combine the two, on top, the bright white of the thin cover reflects the sun and keeps the primary cover clean. I don't know if you have ever washed a car cover, but they are bulky and non woven in the Dupont types of material, and don't look the same after washing. Still the same function, but the material is now fluffier, which I didn't think the best result for long term use. The top cover protecting the bottom cover also helped with a few cat attacks and of course, birds. The non woven white outside cover now has a bunch of claw damage, but no completely torn areas, it just looks very shabby, kind of like a willow tree trunk. But my undercover is without any damage.

I like the two cover concept, I remove and use them together as one cover, so no extra work to deploy, and it keeps the good cover clean. The non fitted cover will blow off with a good wind unless I take the loop designed to wind the white cover into its' case and circle the tailpipes with it.

The white cover is not priced well, if it is still available. I like the light color, because I often park in the sun. If I were covering my car today, I would definitely get another well fitting cover, like the California car cover. The outside cover would be one of the generic covers that people are selling cheaply at the bigger car meets . It's a material that looks like the ones the fitted covers are made out of, but sells for much cheaper and the covers are approximate fits for the car, pretty much what I have now except grey car cover material on the cheaper outer cover.

I hope this helps. And that the new purchase is good to you.

Noah is about the best. I'm sure there are some other Corvette covers that work well too (mid-America sells some). The Noah is excellent all-weather protection and the car is CLEAN after a rainstorm when you remove it. Only thing I do not like about the Noah is that these covers do not completely cover the wheels. Other than that, it is an excellent cover. I usually use a bungee cord on each bottom side of the car (hook them to each rear wheel) as reassurance that the cover will not lift in a wind storm.

Shirl, Have you noticed any scratch marks on the car from this Noah cover?

Not really because it is soft. If you put the cover on a dirty car, however, you will get scratches.

CoverKing makes some very good covers also. Might want to check them out in your decision process.

I bought an Introtech Indoor/Outdoor cover that I am REALLY happy with. I've had two of the other ones that were woven layers and just simply disintegrated and had fluff all over everything after a couple of hard rains.

This Introtech cover works very well.
