Knowing how fragle every part on the c5 is i would expect the car to fall apart and cost more then the cost of a c7 to put back together.

Heres a different view.
I think its cool and I love going fast and straight.. Land and water...
Those guys/gals can drive. Its the challenge of ultimate control with a car.
At the least it would teach you how to drive your own.

Love the part about it makes no since.
What are burn out wars at most of the major car shows??
Anyone really see a need for those?? Now try keeping it going at 80 mph.

Nothing I would want to spend money on fixing up a car to do but I really do enjoy watching others that do anything with cars that I can't do..

Cool to me....

Drifting requires a lot of skill. I have respect for anyone that drifts. Maybe some day I'll learn how to do it.

And yes, there are drifting races. The races you see most often with "Formula D" aren't really races you would be faster by drifting than by just driving because they're on GT tracks. But there are races where the track corners are far too tight and require drifting and major skills to get around quickly.

Great post pointing out alot of good things for those that don't really know the point of drifting. IT'S NOT A RACE...it's a style competition. An analogy can be drawn to figure skating vs speed skating.

Different strokes for different folks. I can totally respect and appreciate all forms of motorsports. And for what it's worth...and from someone that has done a small amount of both road course and drifting...drifting requires an insane amount of skill to keep the cars from spinning out and wrecking. Would I turn my Vette into a drift car? Nope, I only have the one. Would I make a drift Vette if I had the money? Sure, it'd be ALOT of fun. Not all motorsports is about fastest from point A to point B.

It is not a race, it is an event, that is judged strictly not from A - B speed but the speed in a designated area, angle of drift, line they take, and style. Skill and finesse indeed are much needed factors. I certainly can't drift like drivers Tanner Foust, Vaughn Gitten Jr. or Ken Block can (For those who don't know those names... check out what they can do and tell me it's not skillful) but if I had a sponsor pay for set upon set of tires..... why the hell not!

Brazil's Rio Do Rastro... ONE pass for those drift haters out there:

I've done something like that. Once in my C3 once in my C5. Only took once in each to learn what not to do.

I would never drift my Vette, but I like to watch drifting once in a while. I watch ALMS more, rally some, NASCAR never.
Different strokes...etc.

Motor sports is not all about the fastest cars or best technology. Otherwise NASCAR wouldn't be popular and F1 would be the only game in town.

When I was a kid in elementary school they called it a 4 wheel
drift and only for certain corners. Not the whole race. I remember
this clearly I wrote a book report on this technique
