I noticed several people have complained about the differences between a fully optioned coupe and Z06. The Chevy web page has a great page that runs down the standard and options side by side. Ensures you know what you are getting or not getting. Here are the options a coupe has that the Z06 doesn't:
Fog lights (Can be added on)
Removeable Top (Now remember the Z06 is a Hard top)
;)
Cargo volume difference between coupe(fast back) versus hartop (trunk)
Twilight Sentinel (Apparently it can be activated through computer)
Low pressure tire warning
Power telescoping steering wheel
Choosing the cassette stereo
12 CD player (can be added)
LS1 engine :D :cry ;)
SRTD
Auto Transmission :D :cry ;)
Sport Seat
Power passenger seat(I may be missing something here, not sure why this is a big deal on a two seater car. Just slide the seat all the way back)
Cargo net (add on)
Cargo Cover (add on)
I was originally looking for a fully optioned coupe, but got the Z06 when a good deal came along. Haven't looked back. A fully optioned coupe is as much or more than a Z06. The only thing I will add is the fog lights. That is certainly a useful option. The performance difference would force you to add much more in cost to the coupe, than adding some options to the Z06 in my opinion. The distinct disadvantage to the Z06 is the exhaust road noise difference. But so many people mod their exhaust to add this noise :D Adding extra insulation and a partition can reduce this noise.
Hope this helps your decision. If any one has any other differences I missed please add them on.
There are not any compartment covers on the 2003 ZO6. How do I know for sure? I was there at the plant watching mine being built on the 24th of June. I thought they were going to be on this year as well but they are diefinetly not.
I heard there were covers too. But, IMO, it's not a big deal that they are not there. When I run the car hard, all my belongings fly nicely to the center hole and never slide around again. :D
Tom, Believe that is the Sport seat option, which is the only way to get the power passenger seat via the 1Sb and 1SC options.
My experience is you set the seat where you like it and leave it. The memory option will retain up to 3 drivers preferences. If you don't want the sports seat option, you can't get the power passenger seat.
I like the hard-top look as opposed to the coupe look, personally. Gives it a more agressive stance and a supercar look IMHO. Nothing against the coupes, I just like the HT better.
You got a GREAT deal on a Z06 if you got it at or less than a "Fully Optioned Coupe." I got a fully optioned coupe (minus F-45 suspension) with both tops and I was still 'bout 7K under the best price I could do on a Z06 in '01...to each his own...I like 'em all!!! :seeya :chevy
Since I got my 2002 MY Z06 2 months ago, I've driven my convertible very little. I had forgotten a significant difference between the Z06 and my Convetible. The wife and I were going to dinner and decided to take the convertible for a change. Nice summer evening partially overcast. Sitting in the resturant enjoying a very liesurely dinner, happen to glance out the window, The bottom was falling out!! Top was down on the Convertible. Didn't know it could rain that hard since here in Atlanta, we haven't gotten much rain in "years" ! By the time I got the top up, I had a half inch of rain standing in the floors. And I was totally soaked! I haven't had that problem with the Z06! So there is another advantage of the Z06 over convertibles! In case all the Z06 drivers have forgotten what it like to get rain inside the car! But all worked out. :D Still love the convertible too!!
