So I am heading home on leave after 8 months overseas. Right now my C5 is up on jacks in a storage facility right now. Before I left I did an oil change and filled it with gas plus added stabil and unhooked the battery. Besides making sure the battery is charged what else should I do before I start it back up. It was suggested that I unplug the coils and spin the motor over a few times to get the oil moving. Im all ears. I'll be home for a month and then back into storage for another 8-9 months.
The last time I took mine out of a long storage, I just put the battery back in and it started right up. Your tires are going to need air. Good luck and thank you for your service.
8 months isn't much longer than many North Country folk have to store their cars every year and I'd bet most probably don't do as much prep as you did.
So true, mine sits almost that long every year. Nothing like living in the great white north. Its like getting a new car every spring.

Just fire it up...but first CHECK FOR CRITTERS! They love to nest on the engine, chew the hoodliner, wasps could be anywhere. Trust this Vet of many deployments, I found all kinds of interesting creatures where they shouldn't be when I got back.
