Default Another Seat Option - Cipher

Just installed these Cipher seats. What do you think?
I used Planted brackets and bolted them to the included seat rails.

IT'S A VERY TIGHT FIT. The passenger side was the worst, but finally got it in...
I had a buddy of mine come by with his tools and he made the bracket holes a bit wider to fit. I stood on the seats as he bolted them down. Two person job.

The driver's side...popped right in with no trouble. I did have to switch the drivers/passengers seats and I used a strap with a ring to use the seat adjuster.

The problem was the seatbelt buckle....There is only so far you can move the seat forward until it hits it. Anyone shorter than 5'7" and you probably won't reach the pedals. I'm 5'8" 175lbs and it's perfect. For those taller, you can move the seats back more.

Am I allowed to say where I purchased from? I think he may be a sponsor here....

A world of difference! I can't believe how scared I was to drive on the twisties in my old seats.

I took it for a long test drive, I live near Big Bear Mountain and damn if I don't have more confidence hitting the curves. These seats really hold you in.

Feels like a brand new car.

I bought them at Andy's Auto... I wasn't sure if they would fit so I found out that Cipher is only about 40 miles from me and I went down with a measuring tape just to make sure they would fit.

I was going to go for Corbeau A4s but I didn't want leather and I definitely didn't want the Corbeau logo on the headrest on the cloth seats.

Yonaka was next on the list but I saw that others had to cut the seats too much...so I found these instead.

My wife says these are the seats the Vette should have come with from the start.

I lost the power seat functionality but I don't mind. I'm just wondering if I should sell my stock or keep them in case I sell the car.

Very nice looking - they suit the car. Enjoy the comfort and new found cornering power! I had the same reaction when I replaced my factory sport seats.

for two seats with rails and two brackets (made by planted) shipping and tax (California boooo) only $645.

They have leather or suede seats for $50 more (for a pair).

So you were able to clear the C5 seat belt retractor when sliding back? Did you need to put them in reversed like most Corbeau A4 installs? Did you loose any headroom or legroom?

Wow, those look good. I am 6'4" and am torn between new seats or rebuilding my sports. My sports are ok, but they are the base driver only power package with no lumbar. My '94 C4 seats were amazing for stock with adjustable bolsters and 3 piece lumbar. I don't have headroom to lose, though.

<edit> What model are they? They offer a bunch on the site.

OP-- Maybe I missed it...what model Cipher seat did you go with? They have alot listed on their site. I'm really liking the look of the VP-8 in the link that was posted in the reply above mine.

What do you think of the quality/fit/finish?

I've looked at those seats before... the fact that most of the racing seats on Ebay are Cipher seats really turned me off on them though, and there wasn't much info out on whether or not they would actually fit in a C5.

So thanks for the post and information. Very helpful. I do like the looks of the seat a lot.

Still not sure what model he got, but I am looking at both the Euro

The CPA1018

My drivers seat padding is shot and even if I rebuild it, after sitting in the C7, my ride needs a proper seat.

<edit> Looks like the 1017, same seat as the 1018 only different pattern?

General question: if you put manual seats into a car with the memory option, does the memory recall still work for the mirrors and steering wheel position?

Since I don't have those on my car, I can't answer for sure. But when I installed Cadillac seats with memory, I bypassed the brain and wired the controls straight to the motors.

If the memory module is mounted in the seat, you might be screwed.
