Default Alignment?

A little help guys, had it aligned last week. Now it seems to bottom out a little more on the left front, and has some new creaking and clunking noises in the back. It drives smoother and straighter, but the new issues are a little worrisome. Just wondering should I take it back and re-do it,or do you think it's something else. About 80k on the shocks and sway bars,138k total on body. Thanks in advance,L8R ZFLASH

I'm no "Tech", but this doesn't make a lick of sense.

An alignment shouldn't bring on such new issues as you've described.

First, get under there yerself and check things out. Did they disconnect a shock and not reconnect? Just look for something loose, out of place or signs of movement where there shouldn't be.....look for the obvious and then take it back to the shop that did this work.

That way you are prepared in case they claim something or deny something. Have them diagnose these new issues for free.

Good luck....still doesn't make sense.....especially if it is driving "better"!!

I am completely paranoid when it comes to alignments. I still believe that "if it aint broke, don't fix it.". That's just my personal experience. I don't have my cars aligned as long as it tracks straight and true and the tires do not show any abnormal wear. That's just me. I'm not saying it's the right thing to do but that has been my experience with the thirty or more cars I've owned.

I also believe that at least 50% of so-called alignment specialists do not know what they're doing and/or don't give a damn.

So, yes.........take it back and have them fix it. Stand right beside the technician while he does it. If you have to breath down his neck to get it done right, then do it! It's your car!

Could be your shocks. 80K on them is getting up there, might be time to replace them.

I had my '98 aligned last year. I installed new coil overs, wheels/tires, and upper knuckles a year or so ago and decided it was time to have it aligned. I initially took it to a tire place to have it aligned. My car handled so poorly that I had to take it back a second time. It was a little better, but not where it should be.

I decided to take it to Black Dog Racing in Lincolnshire, IL to have it corner balanced/aligned and the difference is unbelievable. I've had my car 12 years and it's never handled so well or been so much fun to drive.

Thanks guys, took it back today. They're blaming it on the new tires rubbing, which is true, but my Nittos didn't rub this much. I put on a set of Toyos,so they might be a little more blocked off than rounded as the Nittos. Could be bushings too, this is a little tire shop and they say they let the computer tell them how to set it up. I'll take it down to my mechanic and let them look at it. I'm just trying to iron this out before my road trip to Vettes and Jetts on the Lex, thanks,L8R ZFLASH
