My 78 hadn't been started for a couple days, when I started it today the generator light came on. It was still on when I got to the hardware store.. when I came out and started it the light came on again,, About half way home it went off .. I started it again after I got home and it stayed off.. It hasn't did that before..Any ideas where to start checking ? Thanks
You might want to post this in the C3 section!
But since youre here...check your alternater output voltage. I had a 73, light would go on when alt volts were low.
Also check for slipping belt which will also do it
I agree also and am sorry for posting in the wrong forum.. I have tried to delete my post but that is not a option,, Also I know that it has a alternator, but the light on the dash says generator..
Check your belt. For you other guys, so he's in the wrong section. Big deal!! A c5 alternator works the same as a c3 alternator. Gimmee a break. Just try to answer the guy's question.

Maybe you'd get more help if you posted in the anger management forum.
Problem solved, once again, sorry for posting in your forum..
You've got nothing to apologize for. The guys were just pointing out that the C3 forum was more likely to have the correct answers for your problem. Regardless of what you heard, a charge problem is quite different between C5's and C3's. It's good that you have your problem resolved though. Any time you post a problem, it's nice for others if you also post the fix so others using search for the same problem may be helped by your experience. Good luck with your car.
