Went to O'Rielly Autoparts last night to buy some Techron like I do every month. The guy behind the counter was pushing Seafoam Engine Treatment over Techron. I bought the Techron but was wondering if anybody has used Seafoam Engine Treatment and what they thought of it?
Used it in an F-Body in the gas tank, brake booster, maybe the oil pan(?). Didn't hurt it and no codes. Big plumes of smoke coming out after I used it in the brake booster though, but it's normal.
When I have problems with my fuel gauge I tried sea foam first. It did nothing. One bottle of techron and she worked like a charm. You want to stick with the Techron.
Ive heard good things about it cleaning up carbon deposits in your cylinders but other than that I havent heard much else. I know when I used it in my camaro I had black water coming out of my exhaust so it must have done something.

I've always stuck with Techron. Works well so no reason to try something else. But there have been owners here that have used Seafoam and seem to like it too.
naphtha, light oil, and alcohol.
the light oil is what causes the plume of smoke, the naptha is what dissolves the carbon but it is kinda weak. I soaked a carbon crusted valve in seafoam for a week and still needed to scrape the carbon off. The alcohol is to take care of any water in the fuel. While techron still has naphtha in it, there is also Toluene present as well plus a few other solvents.

So would running techron through the intake do a better job at removing carbon?
