Here is my 1997 Targa. I graduated HS in 1996 and I fell in love with the car after reading a car & driver magazine which featured the new C5 in 1996. I never had the funds to buy one but my luck changed last year when I purchased this white 1997 auto targa for a song. It was seriously neglected and had a few issues. Over the past year I have considerably upgraded the car, fixed everything I could by myself. Below you will find the list of work/parts I have added to this old girl in an attempt to revive my dream car.

Engine:
1. Replaced Crank pulley, tension pulley and serpentine belt.
2. Added SLP Blackwing intake. (finally added the bellow)
3. Added a Greddy PCV oil catch can.
4. Added Optima Red Top battery.
5. Soon to add SLP full length headers.
6. Added SLP down-pipe
7. Added SLP Powerflo catback
6. Cleaned cpu wiring harness plug (corroded) Followed Bill Curley’s advice…
7. Replaced steering position speed sensor
8. Recall on the ignition column lock was done
Interior:
1. Cleaned ignition lock, again followed Curley’s advice
2. Replaced inside temperature sensor.
3. Replaced center console lid.
4. Added a hatch cargo divider.
5. Replaced targa seals and halo seals (not yet installed)
6. Recall on seatbelts done.
7. Added C5 Embroidered cargo cover.

Exterior:
1. Replaced passenger mirror.
2. Added ACI front lip (it was busted and I fixed it)
3. Added ACI side Skirts (have not installed yet)
4. Added Lloyds L5 rear wheel wrap around mud flap (painted those white, not yet installed)
5. Added the front bumper license plate insert.
6. Added Z06 fog light screens
7. Added a clear targa top. (Fixed a really bad scratched on, looks great IMO)
8. Added a full light black out kit. (Probably going to change this though)
9. Added JW Motor works headlights (not here yet)
10. Added foglight HID kit (not here yet)
11. Replaced driverside headlight motor

Drive-train/transmission
1. Fully overhauled transmission
2. Added new alum oil pan
3. New torque converter
4. Added 3:42 rear end (not installed yet)
Suspension/wheels/brakes
1. Added Y2K polished wheels (heavily corroded, refinished them) (new hancook tires)
2. Added Z06 calipers
3. Added Wilwood cross-drilled/slotted rotors and rotor hub covers
4. Added Wilwood SS brake lines
5. Added C6 z51 Sway Bars
6. Fixed wire for Traction Control
7. Cleaned connections for ABS
(Note: traction control, F45’s suspension, and ABS all work properly)

Future plans

I need to replace the seat control bezels. I keep forgetting to order them.
I am looking for an Ls6 intake and Oil pressure relocation kit
I will start installing my stereo system over the winter. I have a Pioneer single din flip out dvd, amp, etc.
I need to get the car tuned

BTW, the intake is called a "blackwing", not "batwing".

 

Those are my daughters Emma 7, and Ava 5. Those two little girls have "helped" me build this Corvette, my Harley, and my 70 camaro. Good little tool runners and they ask the cutest questions too...

I built this from the frame and lower half of the engine case. This is a 91 sportster frame and a 2000 evo 1200 engine.

My 70 Camaro project. I took a 71 tub and combined it with an 81 z28 TTop roof. I actually have a build link on this car under the "other" board.

I painted the complete car inside and out with single stage black. The car just has a heavy coat of single stage on it which is used as a "guide" coat. Now I will add the finishing putty aka icing, wetsand, etc...I paid 50 bucks for the tub which I found in a farmers field. He had the title and even hauled it to my house.

Thanks for the compliments. I would like to take off the light blackouts and replace the front markers with a set of diamond clear markers. I was also thinking of painting the halo black, what do you guys think?

 

As you know, the C5 lights kinda suck from the factory, therefore, I decided to upgrade....I purchased everything from forum members and I will have to say, the shipping of these products was outstanding. So here is what I have going on....

JWMotorworks Black H9 kit, new, paid 250 shipped for it, outstanding deal in my opinion...

Xenon HID low beam kit 6000k, fog light kit 6000k, and headlight motor resistor, new 25 shipped, I will probably sneak this low beam bulb into my high beams if I feel like taking the time...

2 used headlight motors, my right one is acting strange so I will replace it..
