First half of my gauges backlights are out, this common?
Second I was driving home and all the sudden my dash beeps and my check gauges light comes on, and shows I have no fuel. I know I have at least half a tank and continue to drive home so I know I wasn't out of gas but anyone have this issue? Here is a pic bad pic from my phone, thanks.
Many of these cars have fuel level issues. The sulfur build up in fuels seems to effect the float mechanism in the tank. The common cure is to use Chevron Techron additive.
The dash seems like it has a bulb out which youll need to replace.. A good time to add a set of SS trim rings!!
The dash bulb is a miniature black light. I've never seen a post before where one has burnt out. Do the dealers even sell them? You'll have to remove the entire cluster to replace it which as mentioned would be a good time to do the aluminum bezel rings, a nice upgrade to the boring dash. Should take about two hours to R&R.
I use Sea Foam in my ride at least once every other month. Contact Radioflyer (vendor and light guru) here on the form. He may be able to point you in the right direction on the dash lights.
I have had the fuel guage issue for about 2 yrs now. I think its that damn ethanol that caused it. I have tried all the additives and it works for awhile and then doesn't. If I get on the highway for awhile it for sure doesn't work like it doesn't like long high speed runs. Maybe in town driving shakes it loose. I've used lots of Techron and don't think it works any better than some of the others.
Even when mine works it never reads more than 7/8 full when I've just filled it up. I just rely on my trip odometer.
The dash light is not an "easy fix" The dash is illuminated by two UV florescent tubes (one on each side) The tube on the left side has gone out. It's more than likely the tube itself and not the transformer. It's a big pain to get to it as you have to remove the cluster and disassemble the cluster almost completely to access that tube.

Do you sell them or know someone who does if you do not?
