Default vert tops

Does anyone have ideas on trying to avoid getting the little creases in our convertible tops after they have not been raised up for awhile, this really drives me nuts, the worst spot is right at the base on each side of the back window.

To avoid getting the creases leave the top up.

If you do put the top down you will get creases. You can try going over them with a steamer, or maybe even a steam iron if you are careful. That may get rid of them.

On a previous thread I posted the story about a guy I met at a local show last year. He had a 2003 AE edition convertible and his shale top was in perfect, showroom new, condition.

As a convertible owner with a black top, I asked him what his secret was. He then showed me two thin mattress pad covers that he cut to fit in between the convertible top when it is in the stowed, top down, position.

Apparently those creases are mostly the result of the fabric on the top rubbing against itself while driving when the top is down. The mattress pads prevent the top from rubbing against itself and helps prevent the crease marks.

After seeing his top, I can't argue with his idea.

Would have never thought about using mattress pads - good tip.

I have started trying to be better about storing the car with the top up. My top does have a few creases but not too bad. You'd never know it though, because you will rarely ever see my car with the top up. If the top has to be up then she will be in the garage!
