I've got a stock '99 coupe that I want to change the exhaust on. I've heard some YouTube clips of cars with a stock ZO6 Ti exhaust. Sounds pretty awesome on clips, but what do you guys think? Is this a worthwhile upgrade in sound when a guy just can't (or won't, in my case) pay the Corvette tax for a Corsa system, or something along those lines? Just don't want to invest that kind of money for what basically amounts to only a sound upgrade.
My 99 Had the ZO 6 exhaust on it when I bought it and I upgraded to the Corsa. At cruise they sounded the same at w.o.t. the Corsa sounds 100% better and looks alot better.
The z06 pipes fit well and sound good. Of course sound is subjective and what sold me was the fact of how light they were and how well they flowed compared to how cheap they are. They could sound like a pink gorilla getting butt raped by a snowplow and as long as they perform as well as they do Id still have mine.

Poor pink gorilla.
I really didn't notice much of a sound increase except when I drop the hammer. If you keep the tips polished they look really good. Factor in a weight savings and I was sold. And at $350. - $400. or so, you just can't beat the Ti exhaust

they were way too tame for me, one of the first things to go on my z... they sound fairly decent if you have headers and a hefty cam but if you don't and don't plan on it I would save more or buy a used aftermarket system... the tips look better than the base tips but you can't even compare them to 4" corsa or ghl tips in my opinion... the only real advantage they have is weight savings
I've got a 99 FRC long tubes x pipe and cam and my Zo6 exhaust sounds freakin great !! I've had a bunch ov vettes with different exhausts and I like this the best.
The car performs well for me, for what I want it to do. I just want it to sound a little more authoritive, and I've found a complete ZO6 system for 150.00 within driving distance to me. I like the Magnaflows, the Corsas, and the B&B type systems, but they are just Godawful expensive just to make noise. The guy selling the system put on SLP Loudmouths to drag race the car, and he told me that it is indeed LOUD now. The clips I heard on the ZO6 system on a stock C5 sounded pretty decent, and seemed to make it cut up just a little more like a Corvette really should.

Good price for the 06 TI catback! It will be rather mellow but will definitely put out a good "growl" when stepped on.
About the best description I can come up with is: think Euro-sounding exhaust notes. Ferrari, etc. Not quite the same but along that line.
At least that's what it sounds like to me, but I'm pretty hard of hearing from fishing with pipe bombs when I was a kid and playing in a band for quite a few years.
I'd still recommend a good tune if it hasn't had one. Really will wake the car up.
I like the Ti exhaust on my Z. At Carlisle last year, there was a small stack of them in the exhaust vendor's booths where they were pulling them to do aftermarket installs. Didn't really look to see if the same piles were there this year.
All I need now is a good set out exhaust cut outs for some more volume when desired.

The Ti exhaust will sound a bit better than your stock exhaust and will save you some weight on the car too. Won't sound or look as good as something like the Corsa systems, but your cost will be much lower.
My 2004 coupe has the ZO6 titanium exhaust - previous owner had it installed. It saves weight and has a nice deep rumble at idle. It doesn't have drone at mid to high speeds - I can hear my music just fine.
At 150, I'd grab them up, if in decent shape. Install them and use them awhile. If you then want more sound, you can sell them for 300-350 and move on up.
Picked them up last night; the only thing I see is that someone painted the tips flat black. Going to try to get installed today at work; may work on getting the tips cleaned up later. That paint seems like it's baked on, but it really doesn't look too bad, especially on a black car. Just hope it's what I'm looking for.
I see you already picked them up, I would have suggested trying to find a C5 Z06 in person and listening to it since Youtube doesn't really accurately portray sound.
Everyone is subjective - personally I found the C5 Z06 exhaust too quiet until I ran straight pipe headers and a cam with it. I'm pretty happy with the sound now.
I'm quite happy with mine! I bought the car expecting to have to modify to my liking, but I am finding most items are perfectly to my liking as stock.
The Ti exhaust is about the perfect balance for my needs. I hate overly loud exhausts, and from what I read, this one flows nearly as well as an aftermarket.
