I may be late to the party. (I appologize if this has already gone around a bunch of times)I am relatively new to the corvette world. I just saw this at a local cruise night. I was impressed with the looks in person. I was even more impressed when I saw all of the Corvette hardware on it! Anyways, I just figured I would share.
I know a guy who managed to finish his for 35k with an LS1 in it, but that's a rare case. Most guys have 65k-85k in theirs...don't believe what you read on FF's site. While possible, most guys don't want junkyard parts on their car...and good luck with a 4500.00 G50 tranny.
I ran a company that built those cars as turn keys...I'll tell you anything you want to know...good and bad.
Here was me at SEMA with one...(hint: don't party with DUB, T-Pain and hot asian ***** at Club Rain until 5am then do an interview at 830am......couldn't even barely collect my thoughts...stuff was nearly spinning...lol)
This one was on Battle of the Supercars on SPEED. We had it at a rap video shoot in Miami the week before and some "rappers" blew the diff and the clutch out. We replaced the clutch at the track, but we ran open diff for the show and got our asses beat on the road course. We were spanking the Gumpert in speed though and they allowed Gumpert to increase their boost past what they deliver stock. I disputed it...but...that's show business...lol. The shoot was done against my advice but.....anyway...
On SPEED vs the GUMPERT
Here is an interior from an LS2 car we did..
Here is a link to the car I brought to SEMA in 2010. There are a bunch of pics...
If my vette ever got totaled and enough of the running gear survived it would get replaced(turned into) with a GTM. Kind of a weird thing to plan...but there it is. Those things are sexy and the project would be a blast!
From what I remember that is a factory 5 Corvette motor LS series, Porsche trans axle, beefed up to handle the H/P, total spend is in the $65k area, for a super car, but what do you really have is the question?
It's a Factory Five GTM. Been to their open houses lots of time. Good company, and great cars. It's lower, and harder to get into than the Vette. I built one of their MKI Cobra kits way back when... 15 years ago to be exact... still have it.
I love them, best bet is lurk the FF forum and wait for abandoned builds, people get way over there head and try to recoup. This build is not for everyone.
Was your company GTM Mulsane, or something along those lines?
That was from an earlier era of the companies existence.
Currently, I'm building a car using a GTM frame, but I'm modifying it extensively and using a different drivetrain entirely. I'm also building the entire body from scratch. It'll be at SEMA 2014.

Like the Cobra replicas, I always thought it'd be fun to build one (probably more fun than to own one). But the logistics look a bit daunting if you don't have a dedicated shop.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
