I'm having a problem with the parking brake. The problem only occurs if I park the Vette overnight and don't engage the parking brake. The next day, when I try to engage the parking brake, the handle goes all the way up but doesn't engage the brake. I have to lower the handle then pull it up a second time to fully engage the parking brake. Sort of like, I have to tighten it by ratcheting. If I use it every time I park, the brake works flawlessly.
Only when I fail to use the parking brake for around 10 or 12 hours does this weirdness occur.
I read other threads on this forum, and tried backing up the Vette, then engaging the parking brake while moving to adjust the brake. I did that twice, but the problem continues.
Any ideas? Any way to fix this so the brake works even when I forget to engage it overnight?
Thanks
I have the same problem. Very common from what I've read. Only permanent cure is to adjust the linkage. Most practical to do when you replace your rear breaks.
