I got this email from a buddy of mine with a C5 Z06
Right now I guess it won't stay running without giving it a bit of gas and it is running real rough. Replaced the crank position sensor on it without any luck. The back story to this is I was on my way to drop it off at schwienfurt, I just got on the autobahn was going about 80 at around 4-5k RPM and all of a sudden it sounded like the rev limiter kicked in (prematurely). After which it began running very rough but I was able to keep driving it to the next rest stop. Once it was turned off, it wouldn't start again and I had it towed to ansbach. Ran a diagnostic test, it said the crank position sensor was bad. My buddy replaced it for me (I had already PCS'd to the states) and he said it is still running rough and won't idle on its own.
It has aftermarket cams, headers, exhaust, and was tuned. Any ideas where to start? Thanks
So I got to check it out today. The code is P0336, crank position sensor. I performed an idle relearn on it, and there is still a definite problem with ignition/timing. Talking to a few other Corvette owners, I'm being told the reluctor rings might be the issue. Any Thoughts?
