I'm getting kind of bored with my zo6, looking for a project that isn't to expensive. I was thinking about putting t1 sway bars, endlinks and bushing on it. I have bilstein sport shocks already on the car. Would this be an improvement? Would the bars work well with the shocks I have? Just trying to come up with a little weekend project to get me excited to drive the z again! Also any suppliers that would have all these parts?
tires are what control how fast the car really is. if you're not on a michelin pss, yoke ad08, bridgestone re11 or toyo r888 that's the first place i would look, 19/18" wheels open up all the good tires
i have seen more time trials won by lower powered cars with superior traction than i care to mention.
if you have the time to do coilovers and test various ride heights in order to find where the car is the quickest that could be a solid use of funds. it usually takes a few days of testing and 1/4" adjustments to get a car dialed though. if you bought from a place like pfadt i'm sure they would have good advice on a starting baseline for you
Do you track the car or just drive it on the street? T1 bars might be a bit much for the street. I have the Pfadt Johnny O'Connell bars on my car with Bilstein Sport shocks and was happy with the improvement over stock Z06 bars on and off the track.
It all depends on your driving style. If you like the twisties more than the feel of extreme acceleration, then I'd agree with the tire upgrade option. Actually, they're a good idea either way. More power is pretty easy, but it's not cheap, nor will it stop any time soon. If you're bored with your Z, I'm guessing it's the later option, because the handling limits of even a stock Z are pretty high. Bang for buck....cam, and then headers. Gears, if you want; but I don't think they're a big deal, unless you drag race a lot.
It's just a street car. I don't drive it but a few times a week. The car already has every bolt on without getting into the motor. I think the car needs a cam, clutch, gear, and sway bars. It already has decent tires on it. Nitto nt05 in the front, 275/40/17, and nitto nt555rii in the back @ 315/35/18. The car made 387 to the wheels with bolt ons and tune. I put corbeau seats In it also. I just like little weekend projects to pass my time and change the car. I guess I have ran out of all the quick, cheap things to do to it and now it's going to cost a lot of money to keep modding it. I was thinking about putting c6 splash guards on the rear, not only to protect the paint but to give the car a little wider look from the back. Since the car has 315's on it they couldn't hurt anyways. I just like the look of the wide body fenders but without all the cost of the fenders and wheels to make it work. So the t1's will work with bilsteins? I don't care if it's a little rough on the street since it's not a daily driver. I like getting in a car that feels/performs like a road race car.
Ok, thanks for the help. So on to the cam, clutch and gear. I have no clue what cam but was thinking either a monster clutch, or spec and a 3.90 gear. Suggestions?
I have an idea....don't forget the FACT that if you bought a Ferrari 458 Italia, that EXACT same feeling would eventually creep in. "Show me the most beautiful woman in the world and I'll show you a guy that is tired of ****ing her." Realize that she is what you got, she loves you, doesn't run up the credit balance, let's you put it straight to the dog...and always begs for more. Your Z would be very upset if it new what you were saying to your friends.
Haha, that's funny. And true. I live my car, would never sale it. It's been good to me. Just need some fresh parts on her to get the flame going again. I've had it for a while and looking to put some more excitement into it
Lets not beat around the bush here. All cars are boring in the street. How fun is it to drive the speed limit and share the road with clueless drivers?
You need to do an autox or track day.
After that come back and tell us you are bored of your Z06.
