Hi guys,
I just watched a C7 test drive on the youtube channel "The Smoking Tire". If you've never heard of Matt Farah before (the host) he bought a C5 brand new in 1998 and has lots of bolt ons. He loves his car, but I found his review of the C7 interesting to watch, especially the conclusions at 12:15 in the first video. I've also included some of his earlier videos showing how much he loves his C5.
unless you make north of 100k a year, are single and have your house paid off i couldn't imagine spending that amount of money on a car on the average wage
This guy reviewing these cars is an embarrassment. He calls the c5 "boy racer" and the c6 a "grown up car". Look at his ricer *** Corvette...I guess he does feel his car is boy racer...cause it is. Then he says c6 abandoned the old leaf springs like his car had...wtf? Fail....thats all I have to say.

I bought my car new so it was a little more then 15000. To much electronics, the back window is to much 370z poor visibility, just to pick a few things on the c7 I don't like

The C7 will depreciate too.
All cars do. All those C7s that were pre-ordered that are being delivered now-probably half will be on the used market in 2-3 years when the current owners upgrade or change their minds. Happens all the time.
And as stated above, not everyone bought their C5 for 15 grand. I paid twice that back in 2007. There are C5 owners that could afford a C7 now, but choose not buy one. Then there are C5 owners that will upgrade when the C7, on the used market is, $30,000-$40,000, which depending on trim level and options will be 3-6 years. (Especially depending on different performance versions of the C7 that come out)
There seems to be a lot of guys that think "You'd buy the C7 if you could afford it".
I may sound like a jerk, but I can buy any car I want and I want my C5. I fell in love with the car the first time I laid eyes on it. Perhaps the C7 will grow on me but right now I still like the C5 style more.
Like a couple other guys said, not everyone bought their cars for $15k. My convertible was more than three times that cost.

The C7 seems like a great car.
oh totally.
if c7's get anywhere near 30k in 3-4 years i would get one. have been considering a c6 GS if they get a little more reasonable as well.
it's just right now you would need money to burn if you buy a c7 as the value of it will plummet over the next 36 months. some people can lose 20-30k and not flinch. to me, 20-30k represents half a years work

Agreed. I'll let someone else take the depreciation hit.
I guess I'm the weird one here, because for c7 money I'd rather spend that on a 61 or a nice c2 roadster. They don't make those anymore and you won't lose any money when it comes time to sell. A c5 goes fast enough for me, so I really don't need the latest and greatest. The older the better. (excluding c4's of course)
