Default Vette trip getaway

Ok I need some input suggestions ideas on where to go what to do this weekend. I live in Alabama and me and the wife had a trip setup with a friend of mine to drive the vettes down to Miami and the Keys. He had to cancel so now I'm left with what to do. Do I point her south and head for the gulf or north to Nashville or Gatlinburg. East to Savannah Ga and Hilton Head or West to Texas. Anyone who may live around these locals send me any suggestions on what's going on in your area. Festivals Concerts anything. We just want to get away.

Why not just continue South and hit the Tampa/St Pete area?

I wish I could cruise that area. Lots of things going on. Don't forget your sunblock.

Its a possibility. Luke Bryan is playing in Tallahassee on Friday. Could swing through there catch the concert and then hit Tampa next.

I think the answer depends on what kind of guy you are. Did you drive the Corvette to look good or to drive hard?

Me personally...I'd head up to Bowling Green...visit the Corvette museum and the plant, then head over towards Gatlinburg and stay in a cabin with a hot tub cause it's cheap this time of year, then hit the Tail of the Dragon for some driving time, then return...

Had that exact idea floating around with a side track in Nashville and a bottle of spirits for the hot tub. Been up to the dragons tail a few times on my bike. Stayed at a small cottage at the start of it call the crossroads of time. Loved it. 318 turns in 11 miles.

I'd go on the original trip anyway, you don't need the other couple.

This time of year the South Carolina coast is great and not all that busy. I just got back to MI from Myrtle Beach. Charleston, Hilton Head and Savannah are also great places to visit.

Here are a couple of suggestions.
They are having the Shrimp festival in Gulf Shores Oct 10th -13th. After that you could still hit the Keys or maybe the East Coast of Florida. I would hit Hwy 41 (tamaimi trail) south of Ft. Meyers and go through the Everglades. It's a senic drive and you can see a lot of aligators in the canal. If you don't continue to the Keys, you could turn North on US 1 and go up the East coast of florida thru Daytona and maybe up to Savanah.

That does sound like a fun trip. Especially the museum and the Dragon.

The Corvette plant tours resume Wednesday next week (16th). Reservations are recommended. I don't think they run on the week ends.

Still up in the air about it. They are having the White Trash Beer Bash in Nashville this weekend. Lots of music and brew.
