Anyone into trading cars? Ever go thru Corvettes like underpants? I've got a friend that is on his 4th or 5th corvette in the last 3-4 years. I think he started with a 99 coupe, drove it for 6-8 months, then found a guy with a c3 that was looking to trade. He then traded that for another one and so on....
Yes..it has become very popular these days to trade projects and partial complete cars around..people loose interest or are trying to get where they want to be.
I have traded my turd (bad frame damage C3) for a far better car that had no engine. The other guy had a spare frame and couldn't build an engine. We each felt like we got a better deal and no cash was shuffled.
It works you just got to know what the heck you are trading and what you are getting.
My buddy is on his 12th 1st gen Camaro in a quest to trade up to what he wants.
I've traded several cars in the past three years. In Tennessee the sales tax is a flat 9% on any purchase. When you trade even there's no tax paid because no money traded hands. I just spent $19k on a C5 and the title, taxes and tag will run me $2100. That's why I like a trade!

Ouch. I never thought I'd say this but for once I'm glad I live in Illinois. Tax was $25...
I had my first vette (98 targa) for about 3 months. Then I traded it for an insurance check after crashing into a telephone pole and some trees. hahahaha now I have a 2002 z06.
I do not plan on getting rid of it or trading it, but you never know what life throws at you and in my world, everything is for sale if the price is right
although, some people buy a vehicle and keep it for 200k+ miles and refuse to get rid of it when it dies.
to each their own.
