Default hood liner and engine covers.

Hi all,
I am in the process of having a hood liner developed. Are they easy to put on? Also, I like the engine covers, I have heard they are velco'd on..Is this something that can be easily done by a girl?

Hoodliners are just held on with I think 15 push retainers - once you get the old ones off, the new ones just snap in place. Line up the holes in the hoodliner with the holes already on the underside of the hood and press the retainers in place.

Many of the underhood painted pieces are either bolt on or held on with Velcro. Should not be a problem for you to put them on the car if you can turn a socket wrench or simply line up the pieces and set the Velcro.

Replacing the Hoodliner is fairly simple, but easier to do if you have the right tool for removing the retainers. If you don't have the tools, you could carefully use a screwdriver or two...

There are several kinds of Engine Covers. Mine does not use velcro. Velcro usually will not hold up where in direct contact with the engine (works fine on like fender covers). My cover came with 4 metal brackets, but the supplied rubber/metal inserts kept failing, so I took the brackets and had metal nuts welded in, added rubber spacers and that ended my problem.

I used the fork tool from a grilling set. Slide the fork under the retainer & lift. Be careful not to damage the hood liner. I was able to reuse the retainers. Good luck!

The large fuel rail covers are easy snap in/off . . .just pull up on the covers.

I bought FRCs that matched my Electron Blue car at RPI Designs in Ohio - - a forum sponsor. Josh is the primary contact. It took about 3 weeks to get them- my sense is that each order is custom painted- and they're $30-50 less expensive than other sources I checked.

The quality was excellent and it took five minutes to [pull off the old ones and snap in the new ones - - caution- you should put painters tape or duct tape around the braided fuel line to avoid scratching the paint on the edge of the slot you must slide around the fuel line.

One of my ferrets tore up the hood "insulator" in my 99 FRC. I ordered the original replacement from Fairway Chevy in Las Vegas. It was $100 plus shipping and my mechanic took the old one off and popped in the new one in about 5 minutes.
