I can't complain too much as we have had a stellar year weather wise this year. We had a local 6 month party back in '86 called 'Expo 86' in Vancouver and I remember the weather being fabulous. This year was better! Had I have known back in March that it would be sunny until the end of October, I'd still be driving for another month.
Anyone else done for the season? Post up your swan-song pic!
I'm glad you guys had a great year up there, nothing beats a long season of driving. Unless you are fortunate enough to live in an area where you have driving weather year round
I wont be finished until the first sign of salt or snow.
It would make me dial my insurance agent, look for a hat and some gloves and add on a few more driving days.
In the sailing tradition there is a term of derision called. " fair weather sailor" . Derisive because no sailor on a voyage can always expect to avoid weather and must have deep skills to survive the unpredictable worst. Those that sail out on only good days wear that term of "fair weather sailor" . I always thought it rather a good way to go, considering what can happen on a bad day. Luckily there is no such thing, or even a term for it with cars .
Fair weather car sailor is a good thing without question. Looks like you have a perfect setting for a nice drive in a convertible.
For me, I will dig out my gloves and watch cap and while the weather will be cooler, the parking is also getting better. The top still goes down. I just won't be taking it down to go body surfing . That's how it is around here.
It's not the snow that makes me park it because we don't get much snow, if any. It's the rain - and lots of it - that does not make it fun to drive in. I don't enjoy driving the Vette when it just collects wet road grime everyday. That's what the Honda is for!
Guess we are kinda lucky in this part of the country (close to the St.Louis area),,most of the time we just get cold weather.Other than traction is lower when you get on it(not to mention these motors make GREAT horse power breathing cold air!) winter driving is quite enjoyable here! There ARE a lot of guys that still park them for the winter.I am NOT one of them. NOW that I said that,,we will probably get clobbered with snow this year!!
.....I wont be finished until the first sign of salt or snow.
Same here! I usually can get at least a few days into November, before I park it for the winter. But that reminds me, it's mid October, and I have a few maintenance items to tend to on the 4x4. I better get out to the garage!!
I don't like to park mine for the winter. As long as there is no salt or snow on the roads I like to drive mine as often as possible. I had it out in 14 degrees and man it loves the cold air. So I never put it up for the winter
Sorry to see that some of you northern guys are starting to put your Corvettes away. As a former Chicagoan, I can relate and always enjoyed that last ride, wash and detail before connecting the battery tender and putting the cover on.
However like every great party, the most fun is usually near the end and I miss driving top down with the fall colors on the cool, sunny autumn days. Now that I live in Florida, my top down driving season is just starting. It's too blazing hot in the summer and I tend to stick to my seats if I try driving top down.
Haven't even cleaned out the garage yet, if this weather holds I'll be driving into December. First sign of salt and sand mix it goes in for its winter nap, until the first good spring rain.
I think that yesterday was my last drive in the C5 for the season. It is snowing here now and I'd imagine that the county will have the roads graveled/salted today (even it it's not needed).
