Was installing my Vara "CRAP" CAI today which I am sending back because of HORRENDOUS fit but I found this rubber block that was sitting where my factory radiator support bolts to the frame...couldn't find the other one if there is one....does someone knows where this goes ???????
Thanks,
Bob
p.s. Leaning towards the SLP Blackwing...I don't race my 01 so I think the Vara CRAP was overkill !!!
It supports the radiator shroud "top" cover that your stock air bridge rested on. there is only 1. I'll see if I can snap a pic for you tomorrow if nobody chimes in.

It fits between the top radiator shroud and the two rubber hoses and metal line that is on the right side of the radiator at the top. (One of the hoses goes to the front of the engine, the other to the coolant overflow tank.) It keeps the top radiator shroud from rubbing against the hoses and possibly wearing a hole in them.
Btw, I have two C5's - I run the Vararam on one and the Blackwing on the other. The one with the Vararam had a Blackwing before I swapped in the Vararam - huge difference in performance. Blackwing is good, Vararam is great. And I have one of the first-gen Vararam's where the fit was not quite as good as the second-gen and I got it to fit and work with a bit of work. Was definitely worth it.
Thanks for the pics...now I know where it goes...like I said yesterday I started to install my Vararam for my 01...the fit was horrible...they would have been better off making a mold of the OEM duct and building the duct around this...I'm sending it back and getting the Blackwing...would like to see what your fit looks like from the front and compare it to what I was looking at...thanks again for the pics !!

The fit is bad, and it's hard to install, but as you get closer and tighten down more it starts to fall into place. You only have to install it once, and you already have it. I'd just suck it up and finish the install. They have never been known for their fitment, but they are the most power producing. You bought a cold air intake for power, not for fitment. Just my .02
I only installed one duct and tightened both bolts so why I only one end secured ??...and as far as removing the one bolt one the one side it was easy getting to this and the fog light bracket after removing the panel that the small lower air dam is attached to...also with this panel off looks like its easy access to the front turn signals...probably 8-10 screws to remove !!

I have a screw on each corner and thats it. The funniest thing about this Vararam is that it probably doesn't need any screws. Once its in there and together its the whole "don't touch it, its perfect!!!" moment.
Thanks,
I did find the video the other day but they didn't show how the duct looks from the front when it is installed...I'll just try the SLP Blackwing instead...actually I was thinking of taking the OEM duct and cutting the back and glassing in the other section of the duct...I decided against it in the end !!
That is exactly right. It has a tendency to fall out from time to time, and will move around a little eventually working itself out. I put a small dab of RTV in the piece's slot and re-installed it. Hasn't come loose yet.
I use open fog light grills with the Blackwing. That made a difference. You can get them from your favorite aftermarket retailer or you can be cheap and cut them out yourself. Definitely worth doing either way.
I also had a vararam prior to getting a blower, fit was not the greatest but it worked, my buddy has the Calloway I have to admit the fit and finish of it was amazing.
Good luck
Vararam on mine was an incredible improvement. However since I'm now supercharged, I need to put it up for sale. I bet it takes very little to sell it since it's the best on the market.
I love my VARARAM I put more into the install then most I took and added some rivits then took Black silicone and sealed the 2 air ducts to the back of the fog light houseing. What it gave me is no blow by on the intake of the air Best CAI out their for the C5
Oh and that's the rubber peice for the A/C Line LOL
