Why are the shocks from the 04 Z so desirable?

The 04 Z06 shocks run over $ 400.00. I've read there was alot of development on them at Nurbugring (not sure about that spelling). I don't know what the specific advantages are, but Ihave read that they are preffered. Better than C6 Z06 shocks, I don't know.

I've got the C6-Z06 shocks on my black car, and the C-5 Z06 shocks on my white car. The C-6 shocks give much better handling and ride in my opinion (and my wife's)

Do you have the 04 Z06 shocks? I did read that the 04 shocks are improved over the other C5 Z06 shocks.
I don't know if there's any noticable difference as I have no personal experience with other year Z06s.

I have 06 z51 shocks heard they were comparable to 04Z shocks, I must say my car handles much better coming from f45 suspension its a bit stiff but hey its a sports car so its going to feel like one.

I believe the shocks on my white car are 2003 not the so called 'improved' 2004 in which the valving was slightly change. There were several other changes in the Z06 suspension in the 2004 including stiffer upper control arms and bushings. I doubt the C-6 Z06 took any backward steps
.
I firmly believe the c6 Z06 shocks, sway bars etc. are the best bang for the bucks.

As you said I don't see the C6 Z06 taking any steps back, and the shocks on the C6 Z are substantially cheaper.

04z shocks are the best shocks for the z06/c5 because they were built for our generation specifically. C6z shocks do fit and work on our cars, but they weren't built for them.

That being said, I'm willing to bet that you'd have to be a skilled driver to truly notice the difference.

2004 C5Z shocks were revised slightly over prior years to provide better handling.

I was interested on those until we found that the C6Z shocks fit as well. I installed the C6Z shocks that were cheaper than the 2004 C5Z units. Overall, I've been pleased.
