I have been checking out the market on C6's and C5's and of all the cars i have test drove. Wow do the tops make alot of noise. Is there a way to get around this? Or is this something you just got to deal with owning the car. The 2007 i drove today had those see through plexi glass tops and it was so annoying i turned around and took it back.. dealer asked why i cut the test drive so short and i said i was highly annoyed by the noise it made from every little bump..
I have a '97 that would squeak and rattle. The factory repair manual tells you how to adjust to eliminate the squeaks and rattles by re-aligning the mounting hardware. Mine is nice and quiet now.

As mentioned above, there are some adjustments that can be made to make the tops fit tighter on the car. I have a few Word files that talk about the targa adjustments on the C5 and if you'd like a copy of them, just PM me your e-mail address.
My '03 does not rattle or squeak at all. Good luck finding a car BTW.
If you buy a coupe with a removable roof, you can expect wind noise and some creaking. The wind noise will never totally go away, but if there's creaking, you can eliminate that by thinly applying dielectric silicone grease to the weather-stripping. It also prevents cracking, so do this to all weather-stripping, on any car.
I lube the latches with WD40 . . . and then run my fixer around the weatherstripping with a very light coating of white lithium grease . . it doesn't attract dirt and quits the roof down for awhile . . .

When mine made noise I just adjusted the front 2 latches, What I did was lower the part on the windshield maybe 1/32 of an inch and it took care of the noise, There are 2 10mm bolts you have to loosen up and then tap the mount down just a tiny bit and them tighten them back up and test drive.

How do you adjust the square latch on the rear of the roof of a 2002 coupe? I see that some are a round bolt with a nut, mine is square and can not be screwed in or out.
If I remember correctly, when I adjusted mine, I loosened the nut and then you use an allen wrench to adjust the latch. Then tighten the nut back up when you're happy with the fit.
Cut up an old credit card into 2 pieces about 1/4" X1". Unlatch both front latches. Place a piece of the cut up credit card between the roller and close the latch. Do the same for the other side. No noise or squeeking. It's good for about a year or so.
