Half shaft question
My 2001 coupe with 100k was making a thumping sound from the rear approx. once per rear wheel revolution. I put it up on my lift but everything felt tight. The half shaft appeared to have a slight wobble so I purchased a new one. After disassembly, I could not get the new one on. It would not slide on the diff spline. Then I noticed the new one had a much smaller diameter of shaft than the one I removed. I am the 2nd owner. I also noticed the hub bearing was grinding, and that was what turned out to be the issue. Question, for future reference, what half shaft do I have and why did it not slide on ? The only numbers I found on it were "NTN 109 LAC". Looks like a National brand, but I could not cross it to anything. Could the axle in the housing have a different spline or was it just new and being difficult. I ended up keeping the old one which works fine now...Thanks...TK
