Default Audio replacement questions

1. What types of speakers does a 2001 Z06 have from the factory? Sizes, dimensions, and depth
2. How many watts can the factory speakers handle and how many watts does the factory head unit push out?
3. What wiring harness must I use when I replace the main head unit?
4. If I wanted to place two 10" subs in my z06 what box do you recommend for easy placement and good quality bass without losing too much space?
5. What type of setup do you recommend for someone that doesn't require a lot of fabrication?

I do travel sometimes and I use the trunk space pretty regularly when I am out and about.

Mike, that's a lot of info. Go to the Audio section here on the forum and you can read some threads that will help you. I replaced everything with new and I'm very happy. The stock system doesn't work like a normal system, your better off just to replace all of it.

oh it can. with a pac adapter you can harness the pre out signal from the factory deck before it gets bose'd

run that through a dedicated pre amp and you can have a clean pre out signal with an equalizer all for $100, best part is it looks factory correct and the dash doesn't have the hacked look of aftermarket

dennis has the pac adapter and i used this for a pre amp

Amazon.com: Clarion EQS746 1/2 DIN Graphic Equalizer with Built-in Crossover: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Clarion EQS746 1/2 DIN Graphic Equalizer with Built-in Crossover: Car Electronics

7 volt pre outs and a 9 band eq, clean sounding unit too when mated with the oem headunit

then you just select your amp and speakers.

Or do it right, rip out the interior and lay down proper noise and heat reduction sheets to create a proper sound stage (that fiberglass creates serious road noise) and then if you want to go cheap then what racebum says works.

Even better is having Dennis mod the center console for a DD 7-8" DVD/NAV/BT/Backup Camera etc unit that looks very factory when done and gives modern HU conveniences. (Sorry, but that factory Delco/Bose unit does nothing for me in looks and especially in performance.)

The Audio section here has a C5 Faq, and the Z06 Faq in here has a small amount of Audio info also.

LOL that looks nothing like factory

at least post pics of what you're talking about so people can make an educated choice

you're also talking a lot lot more money for a custom bezel and higher end deck

Spend some time in the Audio forum, I've seen many very nice 7-8" flat screens, what I mean by factory is well the bezel and fit look factory.

Earlier this year I spent and afternoon, pulled up the trunk carpet, cleaned all surfaces with alcohol and covered every inch with Ram MatII going as far forward as I could and the also the steel plates on the vertical wall behind the seats. (someday I'll do the doors)

Night and day difference. Before conversation at speed was difficult, now at 70mp, windows down and radio blasting I can have normal conversation with my passenger. Audio is hugely improved and I've not modded it yet. Ha Ha...
