I've only had the car four weeks. Tonight, while leaving a video store, I pulled a real bonehead move by inadvertently cutting a corner too tight. I scraped the car against a high curb and tore up the lower right panel (the panel that contains the rear cooling duct) No damage to the duct but I've got a bad scrape about 2 feet long below that with fiberglass hanging out. I think it's torn up bad enough that it should be replaced. Anybody out there know or want to take a guess on what the replacement cost and labor might be on this job? Yes, I have insurance but I'm not sure I want to file a claim just yet. Thanks for your help. :)
That blows but don't despair I just got my car back from the body shop. I hit a woodchuck and the bill was $2700!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks like brand new though.

I had an idiot back into mine with a f***ing dump truck. Had the front cover replaced and hood redone. cost $1,500, but looks new. Could have been a lot worse. I had to look up to see the tailgate.
Thats wild..I just fixed the right rear lower panel on a 2001 Z06 this past Thursday. The driver went over a speedbump..apparently a HUGE speedbump. He scraped the entire underside of the panel, and took a chunk out of the very corner back by the duct.
I charged him 500.00 to fix the hole, and repaint the clip.
Good news is those panels seem to be very easy to fix and repair.

kewlbrz and merch 120 - great estimates! Got the estimate today from my dealer and it was $460 to repair it. If I want a new panel the cost for the part is only $125 - but the labor is about $800 because they say removal and replacement of the panel is pretty difficult. I'm going with the repair.
The good thing about the vette is that the panels can be painted off of the car.
An idiot on a motorcycle hit me on new years day. Check out the damage. I rode the guy at the dealer really hard, and it is perfect now. I even got two new wheels and tires out of it.
I belive I still would have had to beat his butt! :yesnod:
was the guy drunk? Thats one thing I have noticed about the c-5 you can almost totaly disasemble it
Delvette -- Good luck on the repairs. If we drive our Corvettes, they aren't going to stay perfect. But if we leave them at home in the garage, they aren't any fun to own. My vote has always been to drive 'em and fix 'em when they need it. Life is full of compromises! :yesnod:
Timz06 -- Ouch on the damage to your Z from the motorcycle. But  on the size of the picture, too! Try to keep the pictures you post to a width of 500. Otherwise, they cause horizontal scrolling problems. Thanks.

I know what little drill you did when you bought you Car, made the dealer wash all the black cars so you could inspect them for scratches  ;)

Good guess, Sgt., but you're wrong! I wouldn't have wanted a car that the dealer had washed!! :smash: :smash: :smash:
Staff Sgt. in the Corps is what "E" rating? I was a Staff Sgt. when I got out
of the Force, but the similarities end there.
I'm not sure what your Corvette sales lady told you to get you to buy your
Z-car! She's a real :jester
Truth is, I showed up to pick up my triple Black vert and asked her where it was.
She said, come on with me. It's at Loganville.
We got up there and I said, again, where's my triple Black vert. Monica
says, it's over there on the front row in the lot. I look over there and
there are seven almost identical Z51, 1SC, 6MN triple Black verts.
I ask which is mine. She says, that's your problem. Let me know when
you figure it out! Chris, my oldest son who has a Black/Black ZO6, and I walked around those seven Black verts studying them for about 30 minutes
before I decided which one was mine.
I ruled out three of them because they had dead batteries. One of them
because it didn't have BSMs. Two of them because they had really significant swirl marks from being buffed out by somebody who didn't know how to use a high-speed buffer.
But, no, I didn't have her wash all of em. I did make her put the SAVWAVE tag on the car before I drove it off the lot!
You going over there for her car show on Aug. 11? If so, I'll see 'ya there. I'm doing Panoz school at Road Atlanta on the 10th and then stopping by for the car show the next day in Loganville.
