I just bought a 2001 with the factory 12 CD changer in the trunk. Radio works fine, everything works. Put CDs in the magazine, insert in the changer in the trunk, it cycles through the CDs. But nothing plays, then get error message.
I'll take it to some kind of stereo repair place, but - thought I might help by removing the unit from the trunk. Anybody know how to go about that?
Do you have the CD's facing the right direction...factory CD's or did you burn your own? Some burned ones are rejected by player. Is the door on player closed firmly?
Thank you all, guys, I'm embarrassed but happy to say, I had the CDs in upside down. Geez. I turned them all over, commercial and my own made, they all play fine. I'm glad I bought this '01. Geez.

That's the very first thing I did with my changer, you're not alone!
