Default rotors and pads

I'm going to be getting new rotors and pads for my DD 2001 soon.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
The car has over !00,000 miles and I'll likely keep it a long time.

Hard to beat Brakemotive's pads and rotors for under $200. I do believe he also has a CF discount if you let him know when you order. While virtually everything else on a Vette has the famous Corvette tax, it seems that pads and rotors aren't as expensive on our cars as some others.

Have got any experience with them, brake dust squeal etc?

I installed the Brakemotive slotted and drilled rotors with their Z16 ceramic pads a little over a year ago. I have to say they look great to this day, however, I developed an irritating squeal about 6 months later from one of the wheels. I called Brakemotive, which has great customer service, and was told to remove the pad and sand it down...was hoping for a better explanation.

As far as break dust, there is still a fair amount, but the fact it's a lighter color makes it less noticeable. Brakemotive has received very good reviews on all the websites I visited before purchasing from them AND the price is outstanding for what you get.

Not meaning to sound like a contrarian, but IMHO avoid ceramic pads and avoid drilled rotors. I have had great braking with Hawk HPS pads and EBC slotted rotors; not a lot of dust; just enough to show that the brakes work - wash your wheels when you wash your car.

On a previous C5, I ran a set of slotted/drilled Baer Eradispeed rotors and Hawk HPS pads. I really liked them - never had a problem at all with them and ran them for better than 5 years. They are not cheap, but are a good product.

I have heard a lot of good things though about the Brakemotive setup.

For a quality street that is low dust and quiet take a look at the Carbotech 1521 pad. This pad should last 2-3 times longer than the OEM pad. If interested let me know I will be happy to help you. A description and pricing is below.

The Carbotech™ 1521™ is our high performance street compound. The 1521™ compound is known for its release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. 1521™ is also a very low dusting and low noise compound with an excellent initial bite. This compound's excellent linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Carbotech™ 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 800°F (426°C+). 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle or fleet vehicle. Carbotech™ 1521™ is NOT recommended for ANY track use.

I just installed a set a slotted only made from Centric sold through TPS Motorsports. http://www.tpsmotorsports.com/corvet...1997-2010.html

Check the C5 Parts For Sale section, just saw Steve Doten Motorsports was selling PowerSlots for $150?

For pads, I went with Powerstop Posi-mold Semi-Metallic.
http://www.powerstop.com/products

I've only had them on the car for about a month, but I'm very happy thus far. Solid feel, no fade, and quiet. When I broke them in their was a fair amount of black dust...which is fine by me, I'd prefer stopping to clean wheels. I've haven't cleaned the car since, so can't say what they would do under normal breaking action. My car is DD too.

Here's what they look like. I've driven through rain and they have not shown any surface rust in the firepath at all.

hard to answer without knowing how you drive, how you want the car to brake, what tire compound you run and how much dust you can live with

Next week I'm stepping up to Eradispeed Plus 2's. Toque has a set on his Z06, and the Eradispeed rear discs, at 14", fill up the gap in his rear wheels very nicely.
