Hi,
I am new to the Corvette world. I just bought a 2004 C5 Convertible, 6 speed manual. I live in Pittsburgh, PA so it is going to be a garage queen as long as there is salt residue on the roads.
I have gotten a lot of different info regarding which transmission "oil" to use, so I decided to go right to the source. I called Tremec. They recommended Mobil 1 ATF. I am an Amsoil user so I asked him about Amsoil. His statement was, " we have not tested with Amsoil". I am putting in Amsoil anyway mainly because I have it. But that is the answer from the source, Mobil 1 ATF.

I called Tremec a few years ago with the same question, and got the same answer. I've used Royal Purple, Mobil 1 ATF, and Amsoil Torque Drive. I wouldn't go back to the RP, but either Amsoil or M1 is okay and feels about the same. By the way, Amsoil is what is in the trans now but I've only got about 5,000 miles on the Amsoil so no opinions yet on long-term usage. My '01 vert is also a fair-weather occasional driver.

I put Amsoil Torquedrive in my pre-01 T56 and it made a world of difference. Shifts are smoother, transmissions quieter, great cold shifts, etc. Amsoil is all I run in my car now.
